PC Build for 2042

Gday,

I seem to upgrade my PC for every second (in this case, third) Battlefield release, last upgrade was a gtx1080oc and all the mid-range gear to go with it. Ran all the BF's well on ultra until now..

Question: What systems are you guys running that maintains a 100fps+ on ultra settings?

Very tempted to grab myself a new gpu, mb, cpu & ram so I can get this game singing but seems to be a much broader range of video cards than when I last upgraded, so, before I commit I'd like to be sure it gets the game singing and, of course, further games for the next 2-3 years

Kind Regards

  • @eiluaq Beta isnt optimized enought to give you a normal answare.
Im running with a 10900k, 32gb ram and a 3080 and getting around 60 fps, but it dips way below that at some points. Resolution is ultrawide 3840x1600.
Hopefully it will get better on release.
  • @eiluaq not sure if that's so easy to say by now as the BF2042 Beta runs on an an older built than the final game will be. Maybe this causes some different issues currently that players are facing.

So maybe it could be better to wait closer to or even until release to see if anything is different or they release any new list of minimum and recommended specs for PC for this game.

  • @eiluaqAs @Nutcrusherr said, with the optimization passes still to come, it is not an easy answer. Personally, I have a 5900x, 3080ti, and 32GB of 3600 RAM. On the Samsung G7, I was holding anywhere from 100 - 140 fps in-game.

It is worth mentioning that proper cooling will be necessary to give you all the headroom your hardware can provide as well.

So one point I do take away from this game, is 100+ on 4K is not likely and you should target 1080p or 1440p for that kind of framerate.

  • Ive spent hours just tweaking the graphics so i can play on Low settings. Till i saw your post about targeting framerate. Changed it to lower framerate and now i can play on Med settings, thanks for that info. Ive spent most of my time trying to play. Now the beta is almost over. Play on highest settings on BFV what in the world is up with this game. Still really not a smooth gameplay.

  • I'm running Ryzen 7 5800X + Rog Strix RX 6800 XT

Smooth sailing. I've had none of the issues which Nvidia camp gets (fps drops, stutter, etc.)

All setting on Ultra, 1440p resolution, over 100 fps all the time.
