@BuffaloBilly wrote:Hi everyone,
I wanted to get your thoughts on the minimum system requirements for Battlefield 2042. My PC meets them all except one. It says minimum processor i5-6600. I have an i5-4460. Do you think my PC will be able run this game?
Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @BuffaloBilly ,
I would definitely think that you will be all OK with the i5-4460 also!
There are only truly minor incremental differences in the performance data between those two very closely related CPUs, and they will typically not be game changing for your practical usage. (literally here actually. :o)
You can see various benchmarks of the two lined up together, like here:
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6600-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4460/3514vs2310
What actually is more important then for you is to ensure adequately fast and enough RAM for the CPU to run at its best, without having to have to swap its cached memory etc. Likewise the performance of your graphic card/processor will most probably be the most important factors for your gaming experience, as your motherboard CPU is already meeting the minimum requirements really.
Oh! I found the specs online but I guess they aren’t official. Thanks!
Thanks CyberDyme for your feedback. Much appreciated.

@BuffaloBilly your PC has various components not only a cpu.
Thanks EA_Atic, I will watch for them. I don’t know where sites online are getting their info concerning the system requirements for the game at this time. 🤷🏼♂️

@BuffaloBillyHave to say one thing though.
BFV and even BF1 struggled a lot on 4 core CPUs. The BF-forums had lots of posts about this problem.
You can perhaps run the game, but it will probably not be a good experience (it was already bad in BF1 and BFV). Thanks for the reply CSO777. I have every BF game. I played them all with the PC I have now. An Alienware X51 R2. With a GTX 745 card. No major problems experienced by me. BFV played at the highest settings with no problems. BF1 played at the lowest settings with no problems. The other BF games I have played are at anywhere between the lowest or highest settings. For the newest BF games on the lowest or medium settings and for the oldest BF games on the highest settings. I’m hoping everything will improve across the board as I just installed a GTX 1050 card. BF 2042 is worrying me a bit though.

Considering player increase to 128 players, you would need a beast CPU to run this game. Ryzen 5 6600 or similar i5 CPU at the minimum. 16 gigs of RAM, preferable more if you want to run ultra settings. GPU I would say you need RTX 2070 to run 1080p Ultra settings 60FPS, RTX 2080/super for 1440p 60fps Ultra settings.
But that's just a speculation of someone who works in custom PC building industry. So take it as you will.
