Perfect shot

At my age, you're lucky to fire in a straight line 🙂, but I have a question.  It seems I'm good at asking questions that no-one knows the answers to; I've posted a few of them and no-one has replied, so either I'm asking difficult questions, or I'm the only person sees the question.

Today when playing on Valparaiso (PC), I was using the soflam binos.  I appreciate they are highly visible to the enemy, but what I don't really understand is this.  The tank I was targetting was 450 yards away on a capture point.  The driver fired one shot from the main barrel, and it was so accurate it went into my shirt pocket.  The driver was a new player, rank 11, I think.

This seems to happen a lot, where people get the range absolutely perfect first time.  Yesterday, a rank 9 on Arica Harbour was using a sniper rifle out of the Russian base, and hit me and killed me one shot, as I ran between the buildings behind A1. It was something daft like 680 yards when I spotted him (upon being revived).  I could barely see him when I switched to a 10 times scope on my rifle.

I fully appreciate I'm old and decrepit, but even in my heyday I rarely got the range perfect first time.  And it seems when I shoot someone at distance, even with a sniper rifle, it'll only kill with a headshot.  Is this the benefit of a console's aim assist?  Clearly I'm doing something wrong.  I've never had this issue on a BF title before, but as I said already, it seems to happen a lot in BF2042.

  • @W4RD0G71 I’m also on PC and feel like I get lasered by consoles regularly. I firmly believe it’s aim assist JP helping with that first shot. That’s why I play mostly in portal with crossplay off. Suddenly I become a decent player. It’s amazing how different it plays.
