''Performance mode '' in Battlefield 2042 on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S ?

Hello guys,

DICE and EA continue to disappoint. BF 2042 has been launched for almost half a year and the game is terrible. I think it's the only game on next-gen consoles that doesn't offer a 120hz / FPS performance mode at a lower resolution. This proves how weak the team behind this game is.

Any solution ?

  • @DCAT627 I've been a battlefield fan since I was little. I pre-ordered BF2042 and they delivered a game in worse condition than a beta. So, you like to take my money, but you give me half of the game. Does it suit you, kiddo?

@PremiumDamian Video games hadn’t been invented when I was little, kiddo. When you grow up you might learn that life is full of things you pay $120 for (meals, sporting events, tools, a poker hand, etc) that don’t live up to your expectations - and nobody wants to listen to you complain about it. Caveat emptor.
  • It doesn’t matter how low you put the resolution if the game is CPU demanding.
It it is very hard to maintain a solid 120fps with a 12700K and RTX3080, which are significantly more powerful than the next-gen consoles.

However, here is wat DICE should implement for the PS5 and Series X consoles:

    Solution:

    - To allow players to enjoy the best of both world, stuttering problems can be solved by introducing a "performance mode" that slightly drops the internal resolution and guarantees 60fps. (All other settings can remain as it is now).

    - The currently available mode can then be called "balanced mode" which aims something in between performance and graphics. (Nothing has to be changed here as it is now on the PS5 and Series X. Based on our testing, a PC equivalent of HIGH settings are currently used on the PS5 and Series X).

    - For those who love graphics, a "Fidelity mode" can be used that targets a very slightly higher internal resolution and graphical fidelity targeting 45-60fps. Here some graphical settings such as shadow draw distance, terrain and undergrowth quality can set to PC equivalent to ULTRA (as the performance hit between High and ULTRA is only 10% on PC)

  • On my Xbox Series X, I did finally figure out that Hourglass is at risk of dropping frames no matter what, it is a very bad map for the Series X in 128 player mode.  That said, if any other map loses frames and goes from 60 to say 45 frames per second, then check to see if you have some large download occurring on the Xbox while playing BF 2042.  I had a 38 gig download last night and my frames dropped to 45 and the game started "Stuttering" on Manifest which never happens.  I have gig fiber internet and my connection quality was fine, but I'm guessing the Xbox CPU can not handle the load of playing BF 2042 while downloading a large file.  When I paused the large file download, the "stuttering" stopped completely.

Summary...DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING ON YOUR XBOX SERIES X WHILE PLAYING BF 2042.  Your internet can most likely handle the download, but your Xbox CPU can't handle doing both at once...at least that is my theory...anyone else notice this???
