We are playing conquest on the beta it's just one game mode out of many, tbh it's not my favourite mode but I'm still mostly enjoying myself.
Battlefield is at heart a combined arms game, vehicles won't be going anywhere. Looking at past titles there should, however, be infantry-only modes, like TDM, or Conquest/Breakthrough maps with limited or no vehicles (like with Locker, Argonne Forest, Devastation etc). Plus there's also Portal for customised games.
