I jist find the vague "don't call us, we'll call you" tone of that statement unacceptable.
THIS game is going down like the Titanic and the developers seem to be standing amongst the rubble determined not to change course or even acknowledge that the iceberg even exists.

I get it and I'm not excusing the cluster they made of this game, the lack of communication up to this point, etc. ......but the answer to your question was there so now we wait until later this month to see if they keep their word.
Personally? I'm not banking on dramatic changes to AOW / HZ or at least to the point where I would be interested in playing those modes. I'm just interested to see what gets added / tweaked in Portal
