Battlefield multiplayer is an RPGish XP grind where wins do not matter. It has the season pass from Destiny 2 and the challenges (chores) to go along with it. Only the devs for some reason can't seem to think of any way to make winning matches together with our teams a challenge. Ask yourself this question. What is the biggest reward that Battlefield 2042 gives the player for winning matches?
Trying to win the match with my team is my main motivation for playing with all of these other things in the game, and most times it does seem like most of the people on the servers do not share that goal. So being in matches like the ones you have described often makes the Battlefield experience seem very shallow.
Edit: BTW. This is probably one of the best topics that I have seen on here in a long time.

The only solution that will ACTUALLY get random players to PTFO is to tie XP and progression to wins, how that would be implemented I have no idea but that's the only way I can think of.
I am a pretty sweaty, PTFO guy myself and I want to win every match, do I get aggravated when half my team is hill-humping and sniping from the far corners of the map? Sure, you bet, but at the same time, it is a GAME and they paid to play it how they want too, so I don't know if I would even be on board with throttling XP and progression like that.
More clan/platoon support, server browsers with persistent server, squad management are just some of the kinds of tools that are sorely lacking right now which make it next to impossible to do the kind of community building with like-minded players like we had before. A community with like-minded PTFO gamers i.e.

Correct, without those critical tools you mention BF2042 will never get close to achieving the community spirit that made BF stand out from the crowd. - Anobix3 years agoSeasoned Ace

I agree, but at the same time, as Karen stated, when it is a 64 or 128 player match, you/one being such a small % of the match seems punishing to try to tie too much experience to winning a match. On rounds where myself and 3 others can lead a team with good teamwork/squadplay we can still get demolished by others giving away vehicles, not filling their roles, or just playing poorly.
I'm all for rewarding all the major aspects -- kills, assists, heals, revives, resupplies, repairs, savior kills, smoking an objective, vehicle damage/destroy/disrupt, spotting, etc. Those things are all important in a match and I don't think need to be minimized.
I think a large portion of the OP's issue involves the weekly quests and specialist level-up requirements. For example, how often is it truly useful for Dozer to be running around with a shield out trying to hit people with it? Generally not very often, but it's the only way to T1 him.

In real life, when a soldier dies we bestow honor upon them. In FPS games we look down upon them, often with ridicule. It’s no wonder that people are more interested in KD. BTW, may KD is 0.94… not bad for a 65 year old who runs 5 miles daily.
