@Lady_One I'm not saying that nuts are not trivial to model, the point was that the complexity of the model was far more complex than it needed to be. It was what led to a discussion that if there's that much wasted effort and polys modeling a simple nut then who knows what else could have been causing other slowdown issues. But I admitted in my post above, that it can be taken somewhat with a grain of salt with the discussion points that were made in the thread [the entire thread was not deleted, just the OP, you can still read all of the replies/sub-threads that are being discussed].
I don't know enough about the Frostbite engine or changes that they had to make during development and while pivoting to a new version before launch to know if there were limitations or complications that they couldn't tackle. I personally never had many performance issues with the game (5900x + 3080, even at 4K as long as settings were reasonable) but I know many people did. In either case, I think the worst part of it all (as I noted in my reply above) was the overall sterility/emptiness of the environments, which are largely better since the redesign (aka 'lets add some shipping containers to make cover everywhere')
