there is no way this is not by design, but legitimately this is just flat out wrong.
I have no match found with players in my region so i couldn't play with players even if i wanted to, believe me i have tried.
also, if there is no one in the friday night battlefield TDM server they are filled with AI and they have full progression. how does that make sense?
@united_we_rideProgression works on those servers because they are essentially PvP servers. They are open and setup to provide "competitive" play. They are not designed to offer PvE (which would mean all human players that joined would be placed upon the same team).
For instance, when I create my own Portal server I make it so that any humans that join will all be placed upon the same team, so that the end result is humans -vs- bots.
When DICE creates an official Portal server they set it so that joining humans will be placed evenly on both teams, thereby making it a PvP environment. Of course if the servers are empty or have very little humans joining then it has to fill up with bots so then it inadvertently becomes a half arsed PvE'ish place to be... but, since those servers are meant, essentially, for PvP DICE allows normal progression on them.
- 3 years ago@BigShottt Oh, I know, it's just bizarre to me. Considering I was completely free to capture the objectives, complete the "travel 2km in a helicopter" and "play 1 round of conquest" in a completely empty server by winning the match with all sectors captured draining the tickets to 0 because there were no players or bots at all and seeing that actually count was really just the cherry on top.
I put in less effort and just because it was a "full PvP" server it counted.
The Friday Night Battlefield TDM has AI on both teams if you are the only player in the server and those kills, spots, heals, revives, resupplies all count towards missions. Ribbons are earned in full and XP is earned in full. I get the difference, but there really isn't ya know? those AI are the PvP AI in portal, but the difference, i just don't see it.
Is TDM in a full lobby of PvP AI really any different than a lobby of PvE AI? The only difference i can see is in the PvE servers, only humans are paired against the AI. where as with the PvP lobbies players join and fill all slots, i get that.
But the point is that it doesn't make sense to me. i can create a TDM lobby in portal with PvP AI and XP is disabled. yet the Friday Night BF server was filled with bots and i was the only player and i was able to get full XP.
in AOW breakthrough solo nothing counts. yet i can shoot bots in tdm on portal right now because no one is playing and receive FULL XP.

@united_we_rideTechnically, I don't think those type of servers (empty) should be starting without a minimum amount of joined players. So I don't know why they aren't waiting for more players to join before they start. Either it's a mistake in the way that DICE has set it up OR it's Dice's way of being forgiving to players and giving them an easy way to level up now and then...sort of like a freebie mentality...who knows.
- 3 years ago@BigShottt well, they seem to be persistent servers on the portal side, and can confirm that there wouldn't be enough players in my region to even find a game through all out war.
It's Ripple effect that is running the portal side of the game.
But to be completely fair i don't think it is a freebie. EA Games/DICE and freebie do not go in the same sentence together.
