@Tman26242 It's the same as you remember, thankfully. You can still use Portal for unlocking attachments and completing the weekly missions, provided you don't change much and have it set to PVP AI.
Seems like we're still stuck with no full progression this season...The good news is we got our full XP back and double XP is working again so doing the BP should be a lot easier than last season.

Double XP are working on Portal in general BUT something has changed regarding XP. I've noticed that there are times where you don't get XP at all and this I've seen on Portal and Coop. Could you @Maxthewicked100 or @iigloo or anybody else please re-check and confirm? For example, play a round BT on Coop on Redacted and be quick. Once you've reached the second sector you'll (maybe) notice that if you kill someone, resupply, revive or whatever you'll get the notification but no XP behind are displayed and then you definitely don't get XP for that. Hope you get what I wanted to explain and Thanks in advance for testing / confirming.
I'm not getting any XP, ribbons or BP progression playing Conquest on Portal server even though it states full XP. I have no problem with Team Deathmatch, there seems to still be a per minute XP cap of 500 or 600 with double XP enabled.
@TheKIACowboy afaik we always had a daily cap of 1.5mio XP and I'm quite sure it's still in so this isn't new. New is, as you've mentioned / noticed yourself, that it seems DICE has added a further cap at x-minutes for x-minutes. The question is whether it was intended or is it a bug. Also they've raised the amount of XP you need for one BP-Point. With these changes it will get very hard for people who has to work to reach BP rank 100 and not to mention the S6 badge. Anyhow, I can't confirm that you don't get ribbons or progress on Portal server but for sure you don't get all the XP you've earned and same for Coop as you can see on my screenshot.
I can confirm it. I have 20% XP always on with the season pass and when i start a round in portal i get XP in yellow (100XP active from one level in battle pass). After a few XP-rewards the points disapear and only regular white text appears like "vehicle damage" etc, but without the points.
A couple of rewards later, the yellow text pop right back up again with the right points but disapear again shortly after. I also tested without 100XP active and only 20XP and i have the same issue.
In the end of the round i just got like 25-50% of the XP i should have. The battle pass points counts after that XP so i miss alot because of that. So i am forced to stay away from portal.
In solo/Co-op i get the points and on official play list in regular conquest and breakthrough.
I think the issue is that they have restricted how much XP you can earn per minute.
@iigloo many Thanks for testing but please re-check for Solo/Coop as my screenshot was taken on this mode and it clearly shows the same limitation you've confirmed for Portal. So we now have a new limitation for an already limited mode(Coop) and for the so called "Full XP" experiences on Portal beside the new XP requirements for BP-Points. Woah, DICE really knows how to please their customers lol and I could cry if it wouldn't be that funny.
Seems like weapon progression is being capped in portal. Not sure if it's bugged or intentional, but I'm getting stuck at 30/30 kills for the tier I'm on & can't progress further until the next match. Also ribbons seem to be capped too. If I keep getting the same ribbon too frequently over multiple matches, I get less & less XP for ribbons at the match summary screen until I get none.

@TheKIACowboy oh, didn't notice that but will have a look once I've unlocked the first new weapon. Reg ribbons, yesterday I had a similar experience on an official featured BT server where I didn't get ribbons at all for the round as attacker and defender. OK, just around 10K in summary or nearly one BP point for me atm and hey, at least it seems the tracking of the BP badge is working well but I don't want to praise the day before it's evening as the season is young. 😉
It’s so funny to see that they really don’t want us to have fun, at all. They keep inventing new ways to mitigate XP for no reason (because, you know, playing against bots won’t make you a god tier PvP player), Solo/Coop/Portal experience are still not viable and in the day one state. It’s a game, it’s supposed to be fun, not restricted af. So the marketing around the game and the « Play the way you want » is still * and our money is still stolen by devs absurd choices.
I recently reinstalled the game to try out the new season but every time I try and create a private portal server it says no server found not sure if I have been blacklisted or something. I only play against bots so unsure how I’m supposed to play the game now.
I still have no clue why this game hasn’t gone full battlefront 2 with the solo/coop mode yet with full unlocks and xp. I honestly feel like I bought This game because of a lie in early access and had my money stolen from me by a patch that took away all the reasons I bought it. I’m so frustrated that even after all this time they basically have said screw all the portal and coop people.
@TheKIACowboyreg #2880, I haven't had this issue with none of the new guns but I remember I've seen it with one gun but can't recall which one it was. From this PoV I'd call it a "temporary issue" which should be fixed with common troubleshooting steps as switch weapon for example but anyhow, it's really annoying.
@MDBuzz, @DominickB3, exactly and nevertheless I am a "PVP-Player" I like to play Solo/Coop or Portal matches every now and then and especially bc there are times where it is hard to get the server started. Furthermore I want to play my preferred map(s) but there is no chance to do that on AOW due to the missing server browser. Honestly, I can't tell how it ******* me off to wait a whole evening for a special map to come if it comes at all. This is for me absolutely unacceptable as lies and broken promises are and the thousands of hours of fun I had and hundreds of friendships I've made since BF3 doesn't change anything about it even though I'm really grateful for that.
Quite a shame that it's still like this...
Edit: Having any AI now in Portal will Limit Mastery gain, Battle Pass Missions etc.
@ElliotLH I note that you added your comment in October Elliott, any news on this since then ? ? Can you find out please, thank you. If you like, you can copy and paste my comments below to them, they are all valid points. With the lack of a server browser, severe lack of maps etc, they have no excuse for this behaviour.
Two years on and they are Still capping this game in Portal / SOLO mode
It's ridiculous to the point of becoming Childish behaviour from the developers of the game.
Why can't we play it now how WE want to play it.
So we haven't bought a game, we are renting a game which has strings attached such as No Fun allowed unless you play it how We say you play it, but even then it's not fun now, it's Boring.
Just open the game up now and let people play it how they want to play it and stop with all the XP / Point capping silliness
Every now and then I pop back into these forums to once again ask the question, why haven't we gotten full progression in the AI modes yet? It revitalized battlefront 2 and gave plenty of people a reason to get back into that game when they did it. You'd think they would sell a lot more battle passes too if they let people play however they wanted to progress.
