Ps5 shutting down

Recently my ps5 keeps shutting down and won’t turn on until I take the plug out then put it back in this happens when playing battlefield nearly every time on the flashpoint map I have tried all the troubleshooting. I have also taken it apart and cleaned it but still happening this happened before with Fifa then it got updated then it stopped happening. Not sure what is going on but I can’t play battlefield because it just shuts down my console. I have tested no mans sky and gta ps5 version and they work fine.

  • Does the PS5 beep 3 times before shutting down? If it does that means it's overheating.

    @mickey921 It doesn't sound like an overheating issue since the console isn't beeping 3 times. The console also turns back on which means the hardware is working fine. It sounds like a software issue causing the console to crash.

  • This used to happen to me when the PS5 launched. Are you currently part of the beta testing program? I know the Discord test has since released fully but there could still be lingering effects.

    If it really bothers you, I suggest uploading all your data to the cloud and/or a flashdrive and restoring your system

  • @TTZ_Dipsy @OskooI_007 @ElliotLH  No I’m not part of the beta testing program. I didn’t think it was a heating issue but I tried cleaning it tonight again basically when you take the fan out down towards the power unit there’s little air flow holes you can barely see them I had to shine a light down to see them they were clogged but you can’t really get to them unless you take apart the motherboard so what I did was I cut a kitchen roll tube put that down the little gap were the air holes were and attached my hoover to the tube and I also reached down with a unused toothbrush to clean the holes. Then put the fan back together then I rebuilt the database in safe mode and so far so good I played a few games of flashpoint rush xl and it didn’t cut out. It was doing it every 20 mins but now it seems ok 🤞 So strange I have owned all the PlayStations and this is the first one I need to take apart to clean.

    @mickey921

    This is almost certainly overheating. I had the same issue myself.

    The issue remained until I got a can of compressed air and blasted the dust/lint from heat sinks inside the console.

    Just make sure you keep the air can upright, otherwise liquid can come out of the nozzle.

    Use a vacuum cleaner on the specific holes too.

    r/gaming - You can vacuum the dust out from your Playstation 5 through two holes

  • Thanks all for your help seems to be working after cleaning air flow holes below the fan. My hypothesis is the power unit wasn’t getting any air flow because of blocked air flow holes even know the fan and the grills were clean which was resulting in it just turning off.
