What has 2042 done better than past battlefield titles. I say give credit where credit is due and if not well let's hear that too ☺️ Credit to the weapon plus system I think that is a cool innovative idea that gives this game something special.Maps: All past battlefield games have it beat in quality and quantity.Vehicles: Bf3 and Bf4. I liked vehicle gameplay much better.Weapons: all past games had a better quantity, quality I'm unsure of.

@Ahhnuld I haven't played it in about a week as I was getting killed by some random enemy in the middle of nowhere or what seemed like getting killed in 1 or 2 hits where it would take me a whole clip to kill someone. It went back to where S3 was. Not fun.

Conquest 'mercy' rule.A full cap ends in the game in less than a minute.Finally. I knew all of those virgin sacrifices would pay off eventually.

@SCUBASTEVE120 2042 has so many deep rooted issues, no matter how much content they will throw at it these core issues will always drive the players away slowly but surely...map design is just aweful and has not been improving beyond "here are sandbags and containers so be quiet now!"gunplay is an absolute travesty.... i know not a single FPS game where i can comfortably engage enemies full sprint at 100m and feel that confident to kill them in less then a second....there is no engagement distance in 2042 if you can see the enemy you can kill them in a manner of a secondnot even mentioning that this game has no semblence of balance in the gun department, part due to the plus system making every gun more or less adeptable for everything (especially the meta weapons) part do to the abhorent map design..vehicle balance that makes one wonder if any developer ever played a single BF game for that mannerno extra DMG for shooting from the sides or back no clever positional gameplay beyond i sit back and roleplay as artillery or a sniper in the case of the rail-tanktanks beign even slower in 2042 then they were in BFV and they had a lot more depth to them in that game but were already * compared to BF4...broken core mechanics especially the ongoing input lag on all platformsnet code issues that makes BF3 launch game look crisp in comparisionan entire lack of any community building tools because EA can't monetize that or DICE can't code these features....and this is only from the top of my head late in the evening.... 2042 is the productover 7 years of gross miscalculations and this community needs to stop accepting the bare minumum everytime DICE gets away with this we as awhole lower the bar further so they can get away with trying even less....whats that going to do for the next game? we will not even have squads anymore in the future ? or what? maybe they throw out teamplay entirely so no more ammo/health distribution and no more reviving since everyone gets unlimited ammo and auto healing instantly?lowering the bar only benefits EA because they can get away with investing even less effort and money then and nothing else

Not saying they haven't been fun but they just can't compare to BF2/2142.@NazT55 Yep, peak Battlefield right there, as you said, it's not that I didn't have fun with other BF titles after that but the BF1942 thru BF2/BF2142 era was truly awesome.The community mods of that time were a large part of what made them special as well, Deset Combat, Forgotten Hope 1 and 2 etc. etc. ahh yes as I said PEAK Battlefield!Hopefully one day Battlefield can return to that kind of glory.

@SCUBASTEVE120 Weapon and overall infantry balance.

BF3/4/5 had awful gun and infantry balance.

BF3 had M16/AEK meta with other guns being pretty much useless.
BF4 had tap fire for the win meta with each gun feeling exactly the same, be it LMG, AR or SMG.
BF5 having the best gunplay in the franchise still had a putrid balance with overpowered weapons and bipod meta making camping extremely overpowered and anti-fun in general.

BF1 is one exception with decent class-to-class balance, but gunplay is the worst.

2042 has a decent weapon balance, overall gunplay and feel. Each gun class has its neiche in different playstyles.

@NazT55 I started with bad company 2 and I honestly couldn't see how past games were better but the community swears by bf2 😌. I thought BF3 was the perfect game with the best multiplayer, a coop and decent campaign to go with it. Plus it had 5 AMAZING DLCs what a ride. Then I felt the decline, even tho I loved BF4, BF1, and BF5.

@UP_LordPlumber Interesting 🤔 I like this reply. I felt BFV had the best overall class balance like each class got the right sets of weapons it played well looked amazing but ttk was off. In BF3 I remember that meta and yes is was God awful but I was able to get over 100 kills with every weapon for the profiency dog tags and there were some batter weapons but overall that was the meta. There were some other good choices imo. M16A3 nightmares 😨

@SCUBASTEVE120I was so excited for BF3 when it was first announced but when it came out I was very disappointed as it was supposed to be a direct sequel to BF2 and BF2 fans waited years for it to come out. A lot of others were too. From no commander mode to the movement/vault system to the specializations being added. Also not having an in game server browser but had to rely on battlelog. From the ranks to the dumb-down badges and ribbons and such.

yeah if i find a feature that actually makes 2042 better then any other game in the franchise i will come back... have been looking since the beta, so far unsuccesfull...

IMO, BF2042 brings 3 new innovations and one feature improvement. Just about everything else was a step backwards or loss of feature.

@NazT55 Totally agree. This version is a POS and they just cant stop making it worse, if that is possible at this point. After they removed the 128 player maps yesterday, and that fact that I am now mysteriously getting my *** handed to me by "new" players between level 1-30, I am done. I will play each Tuesday until that incentive is gone then I am uninstalling it. There is zero enjoyment or sense of accomplishment now.

@SCUBASTEVE120 Doesn't need to do anything better as long as it provides me hundreds of hours of enjoyment and the battlefield core experience which 2042 has.

Ironic that players want remastered versions of older games like BF3 or BF4 and then bash 2042 for not offering something better than past games.
