ranger should be weaker and could be a Boris ability

I think right now Boris is the less used specialist, after the last update Boris sentry gun is very weak and is ability is sort of a stationary one. Giving him a weaker ranger could mean giving play...

@bevvooi totally disagree here,

first the ranger is good as it is and second boris needs his sentry

I used the ranger often and I have only around 210 since release, so I think this thing is far from overpowered. (With 430+ hours on the clock)
Also, there can only two of them active on each team, which is a good balance I would say (on 128p conquest I would say they should increase the limit up to 3-4 per team)

If you die on a ranger, you were already low on life which is unlucky but if you die on full health, you are not aware of your surroundings.

Also, DICE should set back the Sentry to the old values and only remove the 3D spotting and all would be fine. With the nerf DICE killed Boris and his gadget, there are only some few players which are brave enough to use him while trying to get a T1.

Before the nerf you could play offensive with Boris (I played him as a main till T1), you could also use the Sentry as a distraction while flanking a flag spot. Many players forget that most of the gadget could be picked up, when you do this, you can move it quickly around without cooldown.

Also sentry guns are not new, there where already in BF2142.


I’m also the opinion removing and nerfing things in BF2042 is not the solution. DICE needs to learn how to balance, this also includes the courage to strengthen other things instead of making everything weaker.

@CountSero I disagree with this always buffing things over nerfing something when it needs it. They can’t be afraid to go in either direction. That’s literally why it’s called balance. Whatever direction it needs to go in for balance is how it should be handled. Not we want more buffs not nerfs mentality. It’s silly, where do you go if everything becomes too lethal?

The Ranger shouldn’t be able to shoot at anyone. The damn thing spots me all the time while I’m the only one in actual cover. No one shoots at it but me, so it targets me I guess. I’ll kill the owner and then empty two clips into it, and it’ll still have 50% health. Since no one shoots at it, even when teammates are right next to me, I’ve been killed by it lol. I have a pretty decent KD and it’s not because I’m a bad player, or lack awareness, it’s because I have an urge to get that thing off the field. Personally, I hate the Ranger and I’m tired of wasting ammo on it. It shouldn’t have as much health if nothing else changes. Two full mags emptied into it with any gun and it should be dead.

    @RaginSam Maybe you should get back to my post and read it again mate.

    I never said that I only want buffs, I said that they should get the courage to strengthen things instead of making everything weaker. I think this is a big difference 😉 because now they only know the nerf hammer.

    And if you have such a problem with the ranger, which is tanky but has an abysmal accuracy, you should change your tactics. As I have written before when you get killed by it you are on low life or not aware of your surroundings.

    Yes, I sometimes get killed by the ranger and guess what most of the time it is my own fault the rest of the time I where on low life.

    Also, there are only two of them on each team at the same time….
