What do you mean by the bolded statement?
Are you trying to say that if more players would practice Rao+FXM then they wouldn't find it boring? Is there some nuance to Rao+FXM that's discovered and appreciated after XX hours of practice?

I added Edit 3.
Edit 3:
I should have said this at first. I want AA players to use AA weapons that depend on skills.
Isn't FXM made for newbies?

@AngrySquid270I mean, they don't practice other AA weapons. There's no room becoming better at Rao+FXM. That is the problem.just tell the truth, you want players to stop using lockons so you won't get shot down. hitting a nightbird or stealth that is maneuvering in anything other than a hover or a straight line with an M5 is dumb luck, it can't be done consistently and to say otherwise is dishonest. lock on missiles exist for a reason.
- kregora3 years agoSeasoned Ace@MZR_926 You are right, I don't bother to learn much beside the FXM to fend of helicopters.
When I do this alone, it is usually a threat only, not a real danger. And I don't do it to kill you, but to chase you away.
But maybe the circumstances are important. I mainly play breakthrough, so I usually need the FXM when I am on the defending side, and I then usually defend a target rich environment.
When I play conquest, a helicopter needs to kill me a couple of times before I am so annoyed to switch to FXM.
The issue with BF2042 is, that there are no real AA tanks in the game.
Most Wildcats I encounter are fitted for anti infantry roles. They even decide to use the 60mm AA pod against infantry rather than air vehicles.
I usually use Rao for other things than chasing helicopters, because they are usually too far away. It is nice that he can hack vehicles, but that is usually only helpful if you want to run away.- 3 years ago
I added Edit 4.
Edit 4:
If more players use NTW or Recoilless against helos, helo pilots need to perform complex maneuvers, which make aiming difficult. Although Recoilless is difficult and too slow to hit helos consistently, it's better than FXM when you fight against decent or good pilots. (Infantry should not be able to kill good pilots easily.)
It's frustrating that my teammates don't deal any damage to an enemy helo when I dealt more than 50 damage to it with NTW or LATV4 50mm or something.
- 3 years ago@kregora I think Wildcat is usually focused on AA now because 60mm Flak got nerfed against infantry and EBLC-Ram is better at anti infantry than Wildcat.

i'm going to keep using the FXM and Rao. they are the best counters to helos. the fact that it annoys helo pilots is a bonus to me and makes me smile.
implying that they require no skill and that their mechanics are an implication on my skill at the game will not work to get me to stop. when they take the stinger away from Rao i'll use the soflam and then anyone with a javelin or M5 will be able to lock on to the helo
