Very hard to MM for me now. Forced to play in portal a lot but not great game modes being played.
I did come across this relatively new YouTuber on X and he has made a good video about the Server Browser.

Battlefield has always revolved around the game mode + map. It has never only been about game mode only, which is what MM forces you to only choose.
What is odd to me is, that they allow you to select a "Specialist" then select a skin, just say jungle only to launch you into Breakaway so you stand out like a sore thumb. Most of the time, in previous titles, I would choose the skin before I joined a server, or if I switched, I would make a skin change too because I knew the map I was about to join. They are missing out on a ton of skins sales because they have effectively nerfed their own microtransactions by not making skins more than just cosmetics.
With map choice, skins now matter and can be selected for a tactical advantage.
The developers were clearly not Battlefield vets, they were probably BFV players with a few BF1 players. That is not the perspective we needed for a successful BF title, and BF2042 showed just how bad it can get.
- @Adamonic 100%. I always try to pick the most realistic skin for the environment as well. Cant do it with MM until I load in. Pity there are so many cartoon gaudy ones. I really hope the next BF title is a hardcore one with cool realistic camo, not things with bright stripes on them and stuff.
