I wonder if they really know how much damage MM is doing to the community. With MM it's impossible to enter a particular server with friends? It's counter to everything that is Battlefield!

100% this, that is why I have always felt it is so important to make sure our voices are heard by posting our thoughts on this thread on a regular basis.

We all want the BF franchise to survive / succeed and imho that can only be guaranteed if MM is replaced with a proper Server Browser and Persistent Servers.

Keep BF alive. Add a server browser.

The fact that BF2042 does not cater for Communities / Clans has been a massive backward step for the franchise.

By comparison the whole BF2042 gaming experience has been watered down compared to previous BF titles.

Imho the only way we can reverse the player decline is to replace MM asap and bring back the Server Browser and Persistent Servers that were the backbone of all the successful BF's in the past.

Has anyone else's MM experience got worse since the launch of S7 or is it just me?

Have you noticed this in AOW matchmaking. ?

I have mostly been playing World Tour so not tried AOW Conquest since start of S7.

One of the main benefits of World Tour is the fact that once you are in a server you can play through the whole map rotation without being sent back to the lobby after every round. World Tour also has a one player start which saves all the hanging around in the lobby waiting for players. Once started it fills up pretty quickly with players replacing the AI bots.

Imho the sooner they bring a proper Server Browser and Persistent Servers to AOW the better to allow all players to have access in all regions.

It's worse because you now have players who only play Redacted but at the same time, there is a new map out.

If the next game doesn't have a Server Browser with persistent servers, I am done with this franchise. I am not wasting another minute of my life in queue waiting for players after ending a match with full teams. A sad state of affairs because this has been my main gaming franchise for the last 20 years. 

There is a way to get a server browser - sort of:

Add a lot of friends,

Then when you check the list of who’s in the game, you can see which map they are playing, how many players that are on the server and if it’s Early game, Mid game or Late game.

Want to play Renewal? Check if any of your friends are playing on a server with that map and then join game.

It’s not the same as having a server browser but it’s still better than have matchmaking pick a random map, right? 🙂 

Can we please get a server browser?

While i can appreciate the merit in your method above, the randomness of MM means you could end up in the same map after being sent back to the MM lobby at the end of every round. ☹️

Imho the sooner they bring back a proper Server Browser / Persistent Servers the better, so we can take back control and get to play all the maps in rotation, just like in all previous BF's.

After their announcement that season 7 is the last I really have a fear that a SB/PS won't happen but if there are no Server Browser Persistent Servers in the next Battlefield, I will politely pass on it.

@RayD_O1Me either three do not enjoy the matchmaking system in this game. We need the server browser/persistent servers, map rotation, region picks, basically everything we had in the past and not SBMM or MM. Even let the community have our own servers and rent our own (not amazon servers) from whoever we want. Let the community have control of the game and not at the beckon call of the head honchos (EA) to decide what we want in a game. Bring back the community spirit of BF, build back the community of platoons/clans again. Have a community based testing area again were the community tests updates and fixes or new maps for bugs before released to the community as a whole (not the fan boys club though).
This game has destroy the very fiber of what it is to be a BF game and for this franchise to survive they need to go back to their roots and keep the head honchos (EA) out of the game and let the gamers and developers make the game.

@RayD_O1I am unsure what we are going to get in the next BF. I just look at what's happening with EA/DICE shutting down Marcus Letto and his studio, taking a new studio on. I don't get it. I think Marcus was listening to us and following the core roots. To get rid of the studio now just seems crazy to me. Over the last few months and leading up to that the content etc. has been really slow. Only one map for S6 when we finally got it, and then ML being let go and then S7 being dragged out to no end. We still dont have all the S7 content after all this time. It's clear that the past few months their focus on BF2042 has fallen by the wayside.


There seems to be leaks that the next BF is going to be based around NATO so potentially more specialists. I really hope they dont go down that route again! It's concerning that they started to put so much effort into the narrative etc. for BF2042 and making good QOL improvements for the game. It's all a huge waste of energy. I pity the Dev's tbh. I think they owed it to us to keep BF2042 going while we wait for the next BFTitle. I think that's why they stuck the Anti Cheat into BFV so we have something else to gravitate towards now.

I just hope that they have learned, I just hope that they have listened to all our feedback, but history keeps repeating itself with them over and over. The recipe is simple, just follow BF3 & BF4 and we will be right as rain with the next BF title.

Hopefully the only good bit of news is that the people who were working on BF2042 are now helping out with the next BF Title. Hopefully things work out and on release it is a polished game, not like the BETA or launch of BF2042. They have all the time and manpower now, hopefully the direction has not been lost.

And that includes a Server Browser & Persistent Servers.

Imho It is the #1 essential component of any Battlefield game alongside Persistent Servers, the sooner they return the better. 

In the absence of a proper Server Browser / Persistent Servers I would even welcome a single player start for AOW, it works well for the Official Weekly Portal Experiences like World Tour and Conquest of Ages etc.....

At least then all players would have instant access to matches and be able to play, currently players in some regions have no access.

It would eliminate the amount of time players spend in  MM lobbies and maximise actual playing time.

Ultimately we need the return of the Server Browser / Persistent Servers, but until then I think what I am suggesting would at least help improve the overall gaming experience.
