Re: Aim assist bug, to drive pc players away ?

As I posted in this thread after the update and posted the same video a few hours ago:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Aim-Assist-improvements-or-Crossplay-Bunk-Netcode/m-p/11740032#M127144

By default, M&K has an advantage over controllers and right now there is no M&K support for consoles (thanks DICE). So there needs to be some aim assist, especially on moving targets. I always thought it helped keep the cursor on the target as long as you were "close" to do that anyway. However, this seems a little excessive. Like I said in the other thread, once the first shot hits, all the shots hit. I never get just wounded by a console player unless they are killed while shooting at me. Normally the one who hits me kills me almost every time.

From the video, it seems that aim assist basically negates recoil because once the cursor is on the target, all you have to do is keep firing until they are dead without having to control for any recoil. Is that true?

Also, this is not about PC vs Console, both can use controllers. I will have to get a controller and test this on PC. Does anyone with a PC and controller have experience with this?

Lot's of pc players have aim assist and still nothing done about that either.

Makes me laugh when pc players complain, they have every advantage over a console player.

Never noticed aim assist on controller that strong either.

    Must have been unlucky.

None of this would exist if console vs console and pc vs pc was standard on next update.

But hey it's New DICE so nothing  to be expected to fix it.

"Lot's of pc players have Pc having aim assist..." is obviously wrong.

Please stay on tracks with the subject and don't flame it with absurd preconceived ideas.

M&K are precise tools, but you have to use them accurately, if you don't the game do not play for you.  Controlers are not precise and need aim assist but look how far it's going now.

Instead of laughing try to open your mind.

    @Adamonic

Thanks yes, it's controller problem with aim assist. It's really hard to discuss with console players who jump on PC vs Consoles as soon as they can...

Yes there is a blatant problem with it but even with vido showing it some kids will say players are "crying"... If only admins could do their job here and calm down agressiv guys.

We all agree controllers are not precise tools and aim assist is needed, but since patch 1.2 it looks like the aim assist does more than the player to hit tragets with controllers in some cases

@l_Grand_Vizir_lTurn off crossplay then it's so simple!!
Not flaming but if your getting beaten by console all the time maybe try another game your skills not up to it maybe.
Most games top scorers are pc players your pc hardware is just not up to it.

    Hum... What the ... ?!?!

    Ok let's stop laughing...

Dear kona, my PC is not young but i know how to make it works, as i build my own PCs since 25 years. My K/D in this game is around 4, thanks dude i'm okay in the game, and playing since BF2 i think i would know if this kind of game is not for me anymore.

Sorry dude but if you believe someone is complaining only because they're just bad... well it says a lot on you. Look on the arguments, not on your believes...

Oh and by the way, the game is build around crossplay. Turn it off and you have no game.

If aim assist locks on targets you can't even see.... it's too strong. He was auto tracking and lasering with zero recoil, lol.

  • That’s not fixed but buffed beyond plain silliness!

On that video he’s basically locking onto a player a hundred yards away with an smg loool.
Great way to lose pc players….. bravo well done!

@emerson1975 PC players can use aim assist with controller too.

More like driving away M&K players.

One thing to note near the end of the video, he is moving too! So this works regardless of motion. I don't know if it works with the M5 but I have been hit from some long ranges before on the move.

This might not be simply game features. There are 3rd party controllers with sophisticated software/scripts that reduce or eiliminate recoil, increase aim assist, quickscope autofire, etc. With the right settings on those devices it can turn most guns into a laser.

  • It makes me laugh when he says you can’t overshoot your target….that’s basically saying they have snap aim assist.

Console players might as well leave crossplay on because your gonna see less and less pc

    players anyway after this!

For me it seems that this works with nearly every infantry weapon but the hit guaranty is depending on the projectile speed.

i played some Infantry Conquest on the old maps and got killed from some strange view angles. In high grass or on top of buildings where you can’t barely see me.

But you can see that people which knowing this issue most of the time using weapons with high RPM and high projectile speed and some big mags 😉 (Some are also using Marksman and Sniper for it)

Let’s see if dice is changing the balance for the aim assist and pulling it a little bit back.

The aim assist code has been broken since launch but DICE didn't know why and kept buffing aim assist patch after patch trying to fix it. Ripple Effect was finally able to come in and fix the aim assist code error.

Does this mean all the aim assist buffs from prior patches suddenly started working and now Battlefield has stronger aim assist than CoD?

@Kona_ukYou’re a troll. Thanks for your contribution. Did you even watch? As for the aim assist, if all the PC players turned off crossplay, and if PC players make up 2/3 of the players, then Dice will have to make adjustments to the aimbot. I know players won’t, we’ve never had that kind of collective resistance, but we could! PC players unite!

So called "aim-assist" has definitely gone overboard, I'm getting lasered from consoles all the time now, 9 out of 10 deaths are from consoles.

I've been playing FPS for about 20+ years now on PC, I'm not great but I'm no slouch either.

Since this latest patch I am losing almost every single engagement with console players (particularly mid to long-range) which is odd considering I am still averaging probably 3 to 1 KDR versus other PC players same as before the patch.

Pre-1.2 I would win some, lose some with console players and seen console guys getting most kills at the end of round screens on a regular basis. I've seen YouTubers on console that just wipe the floor playing this game pre-patch so what exactly needed "fixed"?

Now it feels like a damn joke, like EA/Dice is just pranking PC players.

  • Interesting to see the reactions to the 'behind cover' example in the video.

To me that highlights a limitation of aim assist.  The user wanted to aim at Target A, but aim assist intervened and tried to 'assist' with an impossible shot in Target B.  And honestly I've never perceived this 'behind cover' slowdown in game, though I have often experienced the issue of AA getting confused when aiming at enemies grouped together.

Sure it looks OP in the video, but in practice that sort of unwanted tracking behavior is a nusisance.

That video is also showing Aim Assist in the best possible light.  I'd be interested if he makes a video that addresses the scenarios where aim assist doesn't perform well to give a more balanced view of both the strengths and weaknesses of aim assist.

Something has definitely changed, it has become very noticeable since 1.2.

Imho what ever fix / buff was applied needs to be dialled back as the balance has tipped dramatically and is now basically unfair.

@AngrySquid270 It is a limitation even more so if there are more enemies in the way line you take to get to the player you want to. If multiple enemies are close together you cannot make micro adjustments very well at all, your aim goes very jittery, it's why I don't play with it at full strength. You do not get assists behind cover, part of the players head must have been slightly visible. If he was fully in cover I wouldnt have felt the slowdown in that area
