Re: April update 4.0: Tanks will be too weak

@A-RAF2019 The tanks are easy to kill, because currently they are a 1 player vehicle, which drastically reduces survivability.

Currently there is no in-game squad communication, hopefully that will be resolved with patch 4.0, then it becomes possible to tell the driver that you get out to repair, and maybe the vehicle doesn't drive away, and leaves you in the open.

The biggest threat to tanks are Caspars C5 plastered OVer-Powerd Drones.
At the moment I used Sundace Anti-Armor grenades when any vehicle is near. It isn't deterministic, but sometimes I get a kill, or make a chopper release flares, etc. sure in the future I will directly target land vehicles, that today simply get saved by a bug.

@kregora Tanks and other vehicles are what Battlefield is about. Vehicles need to be more available not cut down like Dice are doing. Who ever is at Dice have no idea about Battlefield and are ruining what it is about. BF3, BF4 vehicle balance was spot on yet Dice are removing vehicles. Do not understand their logic obviously clueless. They should go to Battlefield history class for refresher course.

@SithMetal71Also Tanks are designed around a full squad concept. This is very different from other Battlefield titles. Players need to adapt.
Battlefield was for quite some time a Combined Arms game, currently infantry has the role as a target dummy.
Currently its debatable who is exploiting the game mechanics, C5 loaded OV-P Drones, or road killing Boltes, or Vehicles currently benefiting from bugged Specialists like Rao and Sundance.

BF4 vehicle/anti-vehicle balance was changed constantly, until about 5-6 years ago. And BF2042 vehicle/anti-vehicle balance really is off a lot.

These are the last patch notes I could find from around when Operation Outbreak went life.

  • @kregora No one wants to be gunners anymore. The tanks are sitting ducks.

And I forgot to mention Sundance's flying with C5 and the grappling hook.
  • @kregora This comment is spot on.
Without comms the tanks are nowhere near as strong as they'll be when you can communicate with the teammates riding with you.
A coordinated tank squad (Driver, repairer, 2 x Rockets) that can communicate via VOIP will be a much stronger threat on the battlefield than is currently the case.
    Looking forward to it myself.

That sounds like describing a planetary conjunction instead of a likely scenario though.

If we talk about scenarios of perfect teamwork, we need to also consider that 4+ infantrymen that fire their rockets at once will also instakill a tank.

Tanks in bf2042 will only have a good time if the enemy team "allows them"

@UP_Hawxxeye Yep. It is hard to get two people to take on helicopters. Imagine a tank squad.
But communication shall improve things a bit. On PC, text helps a lot.

@A-RAF2019 You are not wrong about this observation, but in my opinion it is wrong to make a tank competitive against multiple infantry, when it is only manned by one person.

A tank is  much more limited in numbers (slots) and availability (respawn time) than a single infantry.

They need at least to be  less clumsy than they are now.

In BF1 the excuse was "it is WW1 tech", in BFV it was "it is WW2 tech" yet even in this near future setting, the tanks pale in comparison to their BF3/4 counterparts.

As I said on several occasions, Vehicles in BF2042 in general made me less interested in using them than on any other BF game since I came to the franchise in  BF3.
