On PS5 myself and I have changed many button mapping settings away from the default in BF2042, as I prefer to keep the exact same controller function/mapping as I have used since BF4 for my BF gameplay.

So you need to go here for the controller settings on the PS5 within the BF2042 game:

Depending on your desired button mapping, then you might at times need to select the "Custom" option, if none of the button mapping schemes are exactly as you prefer it to be.

When selecting the "Custom" option, then you get access to the detailed button mapping dialog, in which you can dictate each single button on your controller and its desired function:

Aka I wanted same layout as default in BF4 to fly the air vehicles.

I wanted a single press to throw a hand grenade and on same button.

All is in principle possible, just takes a little time to get it all assigned as you want.
