@ghinavirus So we just need a leaker to wipe of a few billion in share prices for them to chat. I have to have my tin foil hat on but if the stocks never dropped would EA responded today?
@1Hairy-GorillaI believe that is why the stock gapped down this morning when the market opened. Insiders who are traders knew yesterday. What concerns me is thats a large drop for a delay which makes me question the 30 day delay. I hate to say it but it may be 2022. Pure speculation on my part.
Remember the stock market prices in the future of the underlying. The underlying is EA stock. So thats Q4 revenue that will be missing. And that comes from Andrew Wilson speaking to investors at the end of Q3 earnings call. Some investors may see this delayed beyond Q4 so the market is pricing the stock accordingly which is missing revenue stream that was promised by the CEO. And down we went today.
I will feel better about the November release if they give us beta still this month or by mid October. We shall see.

@ghinavirusI suspect it is just some hedging against the forecasted earnings as you mentioned.
If Q4 revenue shifts to Q1'22, then there could be some speculation they will miss their forecasts for the quarter / year. - 6% is alarming, but not when considered with extended trading, which halved it after the delay announcement.
I suspect the stock will continue to rebound IF the communication and positive PR continues and EA DICE can publish a new, coherent timetable.
Dammit, We were so close.
Let's be patient soldiers, we all want a great game not a spoiled one. In the meantime let's get our weapons, bayonets and snacks ready.
- LordVader6664 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@Orus_Eye you forgot the empty bottles...
@1Hairy-GorillaI don't think enough people realize, but DICE/EA's communication was literally non existent with the community. Their only communication was a few trailers that were mostly cinematic. Besides that, their own store pages keep shifting around. I would hardly say Exodus counts as communication as it does little to instill confidence in the actual game.
They absolutely need to step up their communication with the community.
It is absolutely saddening, that most of the information known about the game came from sources that is not DICE/EA!

When I give a deadline for projects I try not to overpromise and give a longer deadline to the client than I need. They are generally impressed if the project comes in early. Imagine how we'd feel about Dice if they did that!
- @carsono311 I do think the stock will recover. All stocks these days seem to recover and they also are very volatile to any news or rumor. Just the type of markets we have right now.
EA will be fine imo but its definitely a sign something lurks negative with the battlefield franchise. None of us really know what state the game is in. However someone with money thinks its not good when they heard whatever news they were told. We shall see and we all hope its a fantastic game. @ghinavirus They are doing a Titanfall 2 though with that release date and I don't expect them to keep it. 2 weeks After CoD, same week as Warzone revamp, and 2 weeks before F2P Halo. Someone is going to lose out in that trio.
Hoping the game will be finished in Nov and not pushed out by EA for Xmas sales it was going to me my first proper PS5 game lol

We’ve only seen a few seconds of gameplay so far, and unlike previous editions of Battlefield, BF2042 wasn’t displayed on Gamescon etc.
And now the release has been postponed.
I’m getting a bad feeling.
This ain’t a good sign.
- ninjapenquinuk4 years agoSeasoned Ace@1Hairy-Gorilla im the same. 6 months into treating myself to a PS5 for my big 40 and im yet to have any PS5 games - just the FIFA 21 upgrade from PS4.

@ninjapenquinukI believe the Hell Let Loose beta starts today, don't quote on me on that lol. But it's a fairly small dl like 5-6GB. You might want to give it a try and it tide you over until 2042, it releases the 5th of October on PS5.

@TankerFlankerwill be downloading it when i finish work and having a quick blast whilst the better half does the bedtime routine. The more hardcore games definitely take a bit of getting used to after Battlefield type games. I remember it took me a little while to get into the Red Orchestra games back in the day.
@1Hairy-Gorilla @ninjapenquinuk I've had a PS5 since around Feb, and I've played a lot of stuff on it. But I like action games more than shooters. I've played Sackboy, Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank, and PS5 versions of Control and Avengers. Control Ultimate Edition in particular was amazing on PS5. Deathloop just released with Kena Bridge of Spirits up next week, but again those are action games.
BF2042 was going to be my first next gen multiplayer game.
Hell Let Loose seems interesting. I watched a stream on Twitch. Definitely a much slower, more "tactical" version of Battlefield.
Planetside 2 is a great stand in while waiting for BF2042. PS4 often struggled to run it, but it's smooth on PS5. I've seen graphics and effects that never showed up on PS4. Besides, the game is basically "what if Battlefield did an MMO" with large scale battles and massive continents. And its F2P
- @ghinavirus Good points. Generally, Live Service games don't seem to do well when we get lead ups like we've had with this game. I had my doubts given the scale they are talking about, and the fact it's only been 2 years since they stopped support for BFV and Battlefront 2.
This game feels like the kind of game that needs at least 4 years to get right. Throwing more studios at it doesn't necessarily help that. - @1Hairy-Gorilla well Halo will be free or I should say on gamepass. So it could hurt BF sales as people will have a game to play on PC/xbox. And if that 2042 has the typical BF launch, out of the trio, BF will suffer the most. COD may be trash but it will be playable. Halo should be fine.
I worry about the ponies with BF. We dont even know if it can run on PS5 or PS4. We so need the beta so we can discuss on this forum everything we see and feel in-game. - @ArchAngeL-PCX Whats funny is they want to do these games every 2 years starting with 2042. EA is pushing the live service. I am ok with the live service and I am not all at the same time. I think about Anthem which had so much potential and could of been something great.
I agree this game needs time and it very well may get that time. We need to keep an eye on the beta dates as this game may very well get pushed into 2022 especially if someone high up feels they will lose money in that new release window with COD and Halo. - TTZ_Dipsy4 years agoLegend
COD is COD, nothing really new and the same players will be playing regardless. Impo, the new Halo has been looking ROUGH since it was announced so I'm not at all worried about it being 'competition'.
2042 itself can be whatever but I'm really hoping they knock Portal out of the park
- @TTZ_Dipsy Halo and Cod are some big titles. I think they both will out sale BF especially in that release window. Not many titles can beat COD year after year.
I am not too excited about Portal to be honest. Looks gimmicky if thats the right word. But I may be wrong, because in truth, None of us know much about BF. I would love to see some gameplay of making something in portal then everyone playing a full game. We have no full conquest gameplay either. And this is why its delayed. They are further behind than willing to admit.
I rather them not crunch and take their time enjoying the process with releases of gameplay to the community. Add in communication and the majority of community will be patient with them. - carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace
@ghinavirusSimilar sentiments about Portal. I have serious doubts about its real capabilities.
Perhaps it will launch at smaller scale / with more constraints on it, but as you said, who knows? Information, of any kind really, would be nice. - TTZ_Dipsy4 years agoLegend
@ghinavirus COD will definitely outsell most if not all games (honestly I don't get the appeal but hey, whatever floats your boat), and Halo will probably sell amazingly well too but purchases vs longevity are two completely different things.
I'm intrigued by Portal because it appears to be Community Games/RSP on steroids - This will be amazing for Leagues and community-driven events like Bottletop, FNB, and Silly/Munky Sundays to name a few. Being able to create custom matches with assets from multiple titles should allow for creativity to shine and hopefully bring new and old players back into the fold after seeing stuff on social media.
We got glimpses but you're right, we definitely need some more in-depth showcases how everything works: new control areas in CQ, and Portal Editor + sharing are top priority, personally. Beta should give us all we need to know about Specialists and how the gadgets will function on the fly - @TTZ_Dipsy I feel the same about COD. Just doesnt make me excited like it once did.
I truly hope Portal is special for the community. It could put the franchise a notch or 2 up especially in a time where gaming tends to have peaked.
Fingers crossed for all my BF homies where we get a great release and enjoyable experience. - GrizzGolf4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I know it will just be the beta but we will be playing BF 2042 sometime near the end of the month I bet.
- OkamiToge4 years agoSeasoned Ace@ghinavirus Hey Pony here, but I for one am SICK and damn tired of every single game thinking it needs a battlepass like thing, it seems every damn game these days feel they need to add one and it certainly puts me off on some games.
- OkamiToge4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@TTZ_DipsyWell when 343i added in the loot crates crap and then their worse Halo campaigns it started going downhill for me, I loved Halo all the way through to Reach and then 343i took over, I barely managed to beat the campaign for 4 and then idk if I even got half way through with 5 I just couldn't do it.
