I can't believe there is no j stick support (at least right now). The previous posts are correct, that each battlefield I've ever played has had support for joysticks. It makes the flying experience absolutely wonderful.
I bought the game hoping they would get it started. In previous games you had to use the key binding menu to link up your joystick. My Logitech extreme 3D pro has work flawlessly on all battlefield games.
Devs, I know you're busy getting the launch completed and as flawless as possible, the candy let us know if you're going to allow joystick support. It would enhance an amazing game!
OMG Why Bf2042 doesn't support Joystick Controllers? It's unbelievable! I want to flight all the aircraft with my Thrustmaster t1600 cloche like I was usually do in Bf2 bf3 bf4 and bf5!
PLEASE MAKE IT POSSIBLE ASAS!You could try it with x360ce. Look my previous massege...
what a crock this is, no joystick support, if I wanted to use a gamepad I would of purchased it for my XBOX, EA needs to fix this now, £70 for a game and basic functions missing, thought we were past the beta releases, should have been renamed betafeild 2042.
- @Deksinon interesting bro, I'm gonna try this. I have the 3d pro as well. I'll report back.
This is probably the most disappointing part (in a long list) of the game so far. Feels like a very rough beta, hope they fix this or its gonna be just another dead Betafield soon.
- @RGR77 Agreed! They need Joystick support!
what a game release...
i mean it´s 2021, you can take a helicopter or a jet but you´re not able to steer with a hotas-system instead you´re able to use a gamepad as a pc-gamer? For real?
that´s really really poor.
Hope this is getting fixed soon.

It is sad to see this, get on it EA, this better be in the first update. What? You guys scared that cross play will not work out well? It wont anyways, give us joystick support so we can unarcade this game.
Yep it works just make sure you don't miss any of the steps!

why should be we forced to use anything with a potentially EAC Catchable hooking mechanism.
if EAC doesn't like x360ce , players are going to potentially get banned left and right on PC for attempting this.
BFV had FULL Native HOTAS support, BF4 had semi-full HOTAS Support ( restricted to a single USB Input ), BF1 had FULL HOTAS Support.
why would BF2042 have ZERO HOTAS support? its a simple as dropping 3 files into the directory and enabling multiple USB Controller Input and Identifying the controllers as independent inputs.
hell, even ARMA 3 has FULL HOTAS support. and thats a 9 year old game!
DICE is progressively dropping the ball harder and harder with each new game. I tried my theustmaster and Logitech joystick today for 2 hours using every trick I know to get any of them to work and I cannot get them recognized in game. I edited all kinds of configs and no luck.. this saddens me, first they make tanks 3rd person for the driver which is * stupid, then they don’t give joystick support for planes or choppers.. it’s sad they are absolutely ruining this franchise slowly but surely.. 2042 is lack luster with its what 12 or 13 weapons. It’s a sad excuse for a BF game. I wish I did t soend 130 bucks on the ultimate edition.. the game is sub par.. played over 80k hours from 2000 till now in the franchise and I’m over it now.. they screwed this game up to compete with cod
Hi all. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick. Two of the buttons don't work any more but it's still awesome. I got rumble to work for it with Grand Theft Auto V and would like to do the same here but I no longer have my Origin copy to test it out, since I refunded it once I got the Steam version working with my joystick.
Steam working with Joystick:
You need the Steam store version of the game.
You MUST have Properties > Controller > Enable Steam Input for your joystick to be recognized in-game.
I have defined and then saved my joystick layout within Steam as a PS4 controller, but Xbox360 worked as well. This is found via : Steam Settings, Controller, General controller configuration which is at the top, select your joystick, Define Layout, map the buttons, save your settings and it will ask you what kind of gamepad you're saving it as for sharing it with others.
Under Steam > Settings > Controller > General, I have ticked both Playstation Configuration Support and Xbox Configuration Support.
- If your bindings are messed up or axis is not being read, you also need to delete your PROFSAVE_Profile in your "Documents\Battlefield 2042" folder because the game has issues saving keybindings correctly it seems, leading to Yaw/Throttle conflict in my case.
Go through all controller settings, make sure all inputs for controller were cleared besides pilot.
Make sure everything besides pilots in Controller Schemes is marked as 'Custom' so your blanks override the defaults. Beware the CUSTOM crash if you mess with the pilot settings and try to change them both away from custom!
Use Steam to map your joystick buttons to exactly what they need to be in game, rather than tweaking them in game.
Origin working with joystick - I am still trying to find out how to test this when I don't have Origin's BF2042 any more:
- Install VGembus or SCP, using Xoutput or X360ce, plus HIDhide or HIDGuardian to hide the default joystick as Origin gets confused if you have more than one thing plugged in.
- Getting HIDguardian to work correctly has been a right pain. Once it hides my joystick it does not recognize it for any sort of binding within X360CE so can't make progress there.
- X360CE got vibration working within the app but not within Steam's BF2042 even though Steam recognized the emulated stick there as the controller.
- Personally I'm afraid that this solution runs the risk of triggering Easy Anti Cheat. I'd risk it if I could be sure rumble would work on my old stick but without it, I'll stick to Steam.
More details here:
so i need to buy a 2nd game over steam just to run my joystick in the game ? or i can just add my game to steam and i can run it ?
- @Frindly-Fire-4 that didn't work for me. I suppose if you could hide your stick somehow it might work but it was a pain I couldn't figure out.
Instead I asked origin to refund me, telling them that I was buying it in steam for joystick support there. I was polite and they didn't mind at all - @Kuiriel Very helpful, but EA knows we shouldn't need it, we know we shouldn't need it. They know it's an easy fix, I do remember the last few BF's at beta time, you had to change config every time, and it seemed like the newer the game, the later the ability to change config was "released." It's more than likely coming, they just want to tweak some things, it's still lazy, but I have faith, since I've been able to use my M$ FF2 on all the other BF's single USB input with throttle (all the buttons work on this one, as I had to replace my 15 year old one with a Euro model from Ebay, 10 years ago.)
@Kuiriel This is awesome!! Thank you for figuring the out! I was ready to cancel my preorder, but now I’ll just switch it to steam. Hopefully they’ll still implement joystick support before full release, but I’m not holding my breath. I’ve pretty much lost all faith in Dice and EA. The only reason I even care about this game is Portal.

I have not yet bought the game or used the 10 hour trial due to Joystick not working.
When it works, feel free to give a review of air, especially jets.
I read about many problems.
I would like to hear your opinion.
- I can confirm this is working with ORIGIN with Logitech Extreme 3D usingHidHideand XoutputKey is to use HidHide to hide Logitech [or any other native device] device leaving only XBOX CONTROLER as emulated device.serting up HidHide like here https://vigem.org/projects/HidHide/Simple-Setup-Guide/So you will needScpToolkit_Setup.exe - latestXoutput - latestHidHide - latestHappy flying 🙂
- @YUG-Danilo Great now I just need to invest the next 4 hours trying to figure how to get it to work. I wonder If using x360ce for the emulator will work. I really don't feel like learning Xoutput.
this is so frustrating. If you have setup this, you just need to hope that you don`t get banned because of cheating 😉
I suppose it will work, just use HidHide...
XOUTOUT is easier to setup, but if you allready have x360ce just use it. EMULATOR is important, not matter which one.
I will wait and test befor i can give m.p.o , i found out through those long years of playing bf games that planes fixes are the last thing dice make or change.
