Confirmed by EA advisor: IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO PLAY PS4 VERSION OF BF ON PS5, NEW GAMES ONLY PS5 VERSION, BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY IS ONLY FOR PAST TITLES.
So, you can buy PS4 and PS5 version of game separately, but can't install PS4 version on PS5

@BHLazioWell, your second screenshot clearly includes a statement that you can install the PS4 version of the game on PS5 and play that way. That is what you wanted, right?

Wonder how this works on Xbox as its different to PS4/5, Sony tends to do new SKU's which is why games get double plats if your into trophies, Xbox tends to do the same SKU just updates with the X/S logo and off you go same game and achievements due to smart delivery
Heyo - PS5 user here. Gold and Ultimate will give you both versions of the game to download.
You're definitely able to download both PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game on your system or through external drives.
My assumption is there will be separate trophy lists since the games have huge differences between versions (Control for example shares the same list since you basically just get a slight boost on PS5).
The biggest question a lot of people are having is if you'll be able to cross-play with Xbox if you're playing your PS4 version - I assume yes but I'm no tech wizard so someone will actually have to test that.

i have ps 4 console and wanna buy gold edition as it is cross gen. will it work on ps 5 also? as i plan to buy ps5 in future.
