I just noticed that Portal only had around a dozen servers a few hours ago and most of those only had 1 or 2 players.
@HillbillyJohn same for me. Wehen Crossplay turned off in XBOX settings, i can sometimes find mostly just one server with 1-2 real xbox players. the rest are bots.
Most of the time, there are no servers.
Givan that. Crossplay is forced to be able to play the game.
- @moldatron But that's a massive problem being limted to play conquest doing it like this. Crossplay should come turned off already with option to turn on this is an absolute pisstake.
It is difficult to find a game, and it blocks the crossplay for ALL games such as HEll Let Loose, Insurgency, etc..
That is NOT a solution. The botton must be on the menu, like PS5. Why not??
It's amazing that you don't see the negative implications this has in the long run.
By the way, in my group, 2 more people have requested the refund. There are already 6 and it will continue to grow.
Especially as others can do it. Insurgency Sandstorm just as one example of a smaller game studio that delivers this capability, out of the box!
I'm 100% sure there are other games that do have a built in option to disable cross-play, so the Xbox settings don't have to be touched.
At this point I just think Dice was either lazy or had no time due to all the other issues.
My friends also refunded the game. Lol it's just crazy to think that they chose these way instead of the players.

If this is Microsoft's doing let me be first to say FU Phil Spencer
The worst is no reaction from dice, found only on redit instruction how to disable cross play... XD
Great just great.
I'm not sure if is a MS fault. In Sea of Thieves for example, the crossplay is deactivated from the game itself. You can even differentiate peripherals I think.
- @Tylytys Don't think this is Microsoft's fault. Again there are many other games where you can disable cross-play or it is disabled by default and you don't have to change the Xbox system settings.
- Tylytys4 years agoNew Adventurer@FrEaKCH82 Then I won't say such thing to Phil.
But Dice seriously WTF?? - @Tylytys If they just would communicate... I mean, we have console-only with the Xbox One and PS4 version. For the Xbox One version, you don't have to disable cross-play in the system settings.
Soooo, any community manager, can you please share why this is not available for Xbox Series SX??? @FrEaKCH82 They'll come back with during our beta test we saw numbers that didn't meet our vision of the game bleh bleh as the reason why Xbox has to be forced on.
- @1Hairy-Gorilla could be, yes... But we Xbox players will get Halo Infinite MP for free, sooo, many will just jump ship especially with this PC player enforcement and more love for PS players...
@FrEaKCH82 I had to go to PS for Warzone the difference it makes with crossplay off is insane lol even with sweaty ppl due to small pool who disable crossplay. I wouldn't hold out hope this is going to change it never did with Apex (last I played few months back).
If MS had rules like Sony then these publishers wouldn't get away with it as much, but MS leaves it up to them, give an inch comes to mind ☹️
- @1Hairy-Gorilla Or EA Dice would just implement an input-based matchmaking, this would also solve it partially... You still have the risk with PC players and cheats and hacks, but at leas they also use a controller and not K&B.
dont let this post die.
DICE/EA we want the option too disable CROSS PLAY ASAP.
im tired playing with PC players
Post bump
- @FrEaKCH82 I thought it would be a fiesta for FPS players this year with cod, bf, and halo in the same year. Can’t believe halo was criticized the most by the community a year ago and now it’s the only hope.
- @yanmuheng Seems to be the reality this year. Maybe we get a nice surprise tomorrow Monday that helps us Xbox player to connive at this launch with more love for Playstation than Xbox...
If Halo rumors are true and if it releases tomorrow, this game has 0 chance among Xbox players in it's current state with forced CP. I won't touch this until they make CP console only.
- @KunioKunGfb Fully agreed!
i really hope they will come back with a clear answer to this topic early next week. As someone else said, with Halo coming which is doing everything right (input based match making, multiple opt in/out options for crossplay within the game, very well polished multiplayer) this could be a big hit in the BF xbox community if they don't anything about it.
@FrEaKCH82 Cod is meant to be input based it even asks you what device and then just mixes everyone in lol. Only option I'd settle for is PS5>Xbox S/X crossplay.
We need an official answer and a consumer-friendly solution to stop the situation right now. Still can't figure out why DICE forces us XBOX players to enable cross play, while the PS5 gamers can just easily turned it off. It should be changed before the official launch day for the standard edition players. My friend from China who are super fans of the MS or XBOX are also confused and stuck in such situation. They purchase the games and buy XSX simply for the need to escape from PC hackers. But now everyone is quite upset and angry at the decision to be forced to enable corss play .It is simple to make it fixed. They can make it like what it was suppose to be in Beta test or on PS5:ADD AN OPITON IN GAME. Or make the cross play option less anti-consumer. It is simple too, just make console players matches with console players like what someone had disscussed before.
