Re: Delta Force Hawk Ops vs. Battlefield 2042

I now have about 100hours in DF-mainly playing havoc warfare in both the conquest and breakthrough modes.

I have enjoyed playing it, whilst it is just a poor mans version of BF2042 if you can look past that its actually not bad, it wont ever be a BF Killer in anyway shape or form but will give people something else to play now that BF2042 is dead in the water.

As its only the alpha the full release is in oct so some give n take with expectations

The Good

I love the anticheat/reporting system (You can report a wide variety of issues with players) every week they publish a list of banned users.

The XP rank of system for weapons and extensive mods you can attach (Test them on the firing range before you go out into a game)

Call in system for smoke, artillery, vehicles and cruise missiles with extra points you gain in game.

Extra XP for kill assists

Vehicle repair station

Ammo/Health station

NO waiting for games

Games are generally over 15-20mins

Weapons are allocated to the specialist so cant mix and match to a degree.

Fixed AA have 360 degree movement

Mobile AA have 360 degree movement

Fixed artillery positions on one map

Shows Kills, assists, revives and flags only in scoreboard

Shows who you killed and who killed you at each death by player

The world chat in the menu screen is heavily moderated with what you can and cant say

The detail with landscape/buildings is good

The bad

You dont know who is AI and who is not (Hint-AI wont revive, jump in a vehicle, and always stick together in groups)

AI have aimbot/laser type kills

Vehicles are sluggish (Imagine BF vehicles at half speed) and can be destroyed with 3 rockets

Only two maps for conquest/breakthrough

The menu system is cumbersome to collect and upgrade rewards/extra bonus points-navigate to different modes

They use specialists

Fixed AA cant go low set at about 15 degree minimum so if a chopper flies lower than the aa turret you cannot shoot them

Sadly cheaters galore 😞 but they usually get banned in a day or so

Hit reg and ttk is terrible very little spread

No console till about 2025 and no controller support

If your in oceanic you will be playing through the EU server

At this stage no building destruction till full release in October

A few other questionable things we need to see they say "no pay to win" but no ones going to make a game for free...without wanting compensation so i would say micro transactions will be a definite but on what exactly who knows.

Played a bit of DF and so far I think it's really excellent for an Alpha test.  It shows some real potential, and highlights areas that, even as a so called "complete" game, 2042 falls way short.

The look and feel of the weapon customisation and weapon sounds is excellent, gadgets feel good, vehicle/infantry balance feels better with no single vehicle dominating in most of the rounds I've played.  The map design is pretty good with plenty of cover and opportunities for flanking and escape. Destruction is good, with even better on the way.  "Specialists" didn't feel as restrictive and most of those I played felt like they were making a difference to the round - particularly the medic.

I played the beta test of 2042 before it was released and it was unplayable.  Should have taken that as a hint of things to come, but by using the same mantra, DF is really showing DICE how to make a BF game, and could be a real contender if the playerbase grows wile we wait for the next BF game.  The DF devs are already working on Season 3, so seem committed to making it a success.

Just hope that EA & DICE wake up and take note....

I haven't played it. But from what I read and see it seems to be an hommage to Battlefield doing a lot of things right.
