Only reason the classes werent in in the first place is because this started out as a BR game.
If this was a BF game from scratch, 1. we wouldnt have specialists, 2. there would be classes with specific gadgets and weapons, like every BF game before it.

@CantGetRighti mean each to their own but numbers speak the truth. Its a BF game, classes is and should be an integral part of Battlefield
- 3 years ago@Spinner1981 Yes and it is already a small player as it is now and I bet most of the ones playing right now like the freedom of choice.
- 3 years ago@CantGetRight thats because BF 2042 is the worst BF game that has ever been released. More people still play BF1 and 5, and a lot still play BF4 (which have classes etc). If that doesnt tell you something then nothing will mate
- matguzman1483 years agoSeasoned Novice@CantGetRight There could still be weapon classes that are global, as there where in bf3/4 for example, so as to allow to find a middle ground between the distinctive roles, but BF identity calls for more definition between roles
- 3 years ago@CantGetRight I fully agree. As someone who has spent hundreds of hours in this game, and thousands of hours in previous titles. I will likely play this far less once these changes take place. This removes such a vast number of play style possibilities. The problem with this game is not specialists, it is map design.

Specialists are a bigger problem in this game than the maps themselves.
- 3 years ago@Natetendo83 We shall see but I doubt it. Most of the ones that want a class structure don't like the specialist as well so that narrows the player numbers coming back down even more. Plus there is still so little content that it won't keep them occupied very long. Once the new class structure wears off they will leave. Even though S1 brought back some players most have left again.
- 3 years ago@CantGetRight If they take away infinite c4 by (the only way being angel right now) and taking it off the support class with ammo pack, I will uninstall. I worked around whatever class restrictions existed in other games solely to use C4 and be able to resupply myself. They will kill this game for sure if they aren't careful about who gets what....

@Spinner1981I guarantee the ones that liked the freedom will leave the game if they introduce a class structure and limit your choices. As I know I will. The ones that do want it will come back just to try it and then leave as the content just isn't there. The players who want classes back greatly outnumber any amount of people who would leave if traditional classes came back. To those players: don't let the door hit you on the way out.
- 3 years ago@Natetendo83 So what if they outnumber others? It won't be enough for them to stick around.

Sorry but Battlefield having classes is a part of the Battlefield identity. As i said before only reason you got specialists and this freedom is because it started as a BR game, which should never have happened. Classes always have been, and always should be a major part of the Battlefield experience. There is always Warzone, Fortnite, PUBG etc if you want complete freedom

And then there are players like me who will still play with either setup but after 260 hours I can safely say no gadget restriction has been very detrimental to my tank experience.

Let them leave. Battlefield is a game with classes. Always has been. Always should be. If you wanna run around with no classes and no structure, CoD will be out this year.

@DominicO65 Agreed, BF 2042 is way too much trying to be COD like and it doesnt work, as is proven. I really hope future BF games go back to proper classes. With the specialists and no classes on top of everything else, BF2042 is Battlefield in name only
THEY NEED TO RESTRICT WEAPONS TOO AND MAKE CLASSES MORE VIABLE
I mean say for instance, an engineer, support or Assault should not be using a sniper rifle sat at the back of the map, when they should be up front and centre, doing their class roles. Want to snipe, then pick a recon with a sniper rifle, let the other classes do what they are supposed to.
There are reasons why weapons need to be restricted, and above is just one example. I get people want freedom of choice etc, but BF has never been about that. Its certain classes for certain roles with certain weapons that match the class, that helps with the role they do.Its part of Battlefields identity. 2042 stripped BF of it and now look. Specialists and no classes is obviously not the only main reason, but it played a big part at why the game is in the state its in, and with a lot less players than there should be. @Straatford87
- 3 years ago@Spinner1981 Couldn't agree more. So dumb seeing medics run around with snipers etc. Battlefield should always limit weapons and gadgets to classes.
