- GovntTookMyBaby3 years agoSeasoned Ace@X-Sunslayer-X I dunno, maybe a part where he cant hit anything because the recoil is so bad? its like playing a video explaining how hot boiling water is, while also bathing in it.
- UP_LordPlumber3 years agoSeasoned Ace@GovntTookMyBaby I don't want to be that guy, but this is the case where people who have no idea how weapons work should stay away from the conversation because you have no idea what we're actually talking about.
Recoil isn't "bad", your sensitivity is broken. Imagine if your aim is being suspended on a sling. You pul down and feel resistance. You keep pulling down slowly and at one point sling snaps. What happens to all that pressure you put downwards? Yes, it crashes down.
The same applies to automatic weapons. You hold fire and pull down to counter the recoil. During the first moment, you fee "resistance" but then suddenly that resistance disappears and your aim gets thrown downwards.
Of course, good players adapt to it, the same way any decent player can adapt to use the worst weapon in the game and still be #1 on the scoreboard with the most kills. It doesn't mean the weapon is good, it means player got the skill to use it. - X-Sunslayer-X3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@GovntTookMyBabyokay i'll try to make it understandable
the entire recoil system on all platforms and inputs no matter if its M&K or Controller has been broken since the BETA.
the issue is ,as far as i was able to understand it myself, that recoil for a lack of a better term gets chached in the game. that mean every single bullet of recoil that you fired and didn't negate 100% trough compensation i.E pulling down has to be worked trough before you get unaltered input back... like Plumber said it basically throws everyones aim off ever so slightly or more severe depending on the weapons and situation....
now him hitting his shots is a mute point since he is as far as i can tell one of the top players in this franchise.... i mean just take a look at his tracker page. the point remains, DICE hasn't been able to fix this bug since beta and if it weren't for Baranox literally doing DICEs job for them it would most've likely never been fixed let alone discovered
- GovntTookMyBaby3 years agoSeasoned Ace@UP_LordPlumber I know how FIREARMS work, I got enough of em. which is my point entirely....you dont just walk around Rambo mode with an lmg droppin dudes on a dime left an right while talking about recoil being off lol, by all means it probly is bugged, just found it kinda funny.
- xXHappy_PuppyXx3 years agoRising Ace@UP_LordPlumber That has nothing to do with how recoil works in games nor the issue described.
If you want a real world analogy it would be if you are braced firing your gun and all of a sudden the recoil disappeared and your aim gets thrown off while still firing.
That's in effect what's happening. As the shooter is trying to compensate for recoil the recoil hangs snapping your aim down and throwing you off target. It should be consistent. Doesn't matter what your sensitivity settings are as the mouse movement or stick pressure to counter recoil would still be consistent with your settings. - X-Sunslayer-X3 years agoSeasoned Ace@GovntTookMyBaby oh yes lets compare real life balistics to an arcade shooter....
Really interesting, weird how in the video it's very obvious there is an issue it's hard to believe this was never before discovered. But I guess it could explain the little inconsistencies in aiming sometimes and weird knowing this, that some people litterly have 100% perfect recoil control. Guess a good test if they fix this bug how fast macro/scripts are being updated, or some people won't post video's first few days/weeks after the patch *lays down tinfoil hat*
I understand they were never aware of this specific issue but in general knew there were issues with aiming/mouse input etc. It's funny i'm in software myself and if you don't know what's causing an issue you can't start to fix the issue so any fixes they have done prior to try and "fix" the many reports of bad aiming feel/mouse input were just random tries in the hopes something fixes it or at least hides the issues undernearth layers of code. It's called a bandaid and not a permanent fix. I wish them good luck untangling this mess, just hope they are allowed to open this pit of hell and just rework the code top to bottom. Same story with the aim assist "fixes" good example of them not knowing what the actual issue was and tweaking things in all the wrong places.
Shows how valuable experienced and veteran software developers are because you can't just dive into a project and figure stuff out let alone fix the issue in the right places, this takes years.

I think the game has had several issues.
The controls felt sluggish (still does to some extent), and I think they have improved input-latency in general with the existing fixes.
But you are right, weird no-one at Dice found this problem. They should test/measure things 'scientifically' before trying to fix stuff, just rewriting some code to hope for a fix seems pretty stupid. I think the amount of code, even "just for input", are pretty substantial and I don't think they will rewrite large portions of code at this point (perhaps for the next release).
The weird thing is how this problem was even introduced to the game, didn't the gun-play in BFV work fine? No other BF-title has had this issue.

I really hope the recoil fix is in this patch, I can really feel this and have since day one.

I tested for the recoil bug in Battlefield 1 and the bug is in there too. It wouldn't surprise me if the bug was first introduced in BF1 because that's when Julian said the Frostbite team rewrote the controller code between BF4 and BF1 and he was no longer sure if the 'code paths' were still seperate for mouse and controller.
- cso77773 years agoSeasoned Ace@OskooI_007 Ok didn't know that.
Played a lot of BF1, but on PC, don't know if the problem is there as well.
But the gun-play in BF1 was very different, perhaps PC has the same issue in BF1... - sk1lld3 years agoLegend
We will most likely not be getting any fixes this update. The updated specialist system is about the only thing we can expect. The team left working on the game is less then 20% of the staff at dice. This game has already been admitted as a failure and will be replaced as soon as possible.

Best we'll get here is a "the team is looking into it", or "the team is investigating". There was a time when we would get confirmation of bugfix timelines from DICE in the forums. But those days are long gone.
