- @WindowsManTv_CZE Man, that's a first (lol). Most comments I either read or hear is "Portal is my main game mode"! If I do get the game, I'll try out all of it as well (despite my dislike towards specialist).

I can just imagine the first week on here after release.....
The amount of "I've made the ultimate Battlefirld experience but no one is joing my server" threads will be rediculous!
- @Trokey66 that would be an absolute disaster especially if conquest base game or breakthrough is a unbalanced broken mess.
Now what would be funny is if the community used the tools in Portal(if it works) and balanced the whole game in a week or 2. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@ghinavirus Balanced in whose opinion though?
- @Trokey66 I would say the communities opinion. Majority satisified and see many threads and comments people liking certain servers in Portal due to balance. Then more would replicate those servers to create more experiences with said balance.
Now maybe Dice/EA may not like it. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
@ghinavirusWe also see many threads on balance and there is rarely any accord!
Simple fact is, the 'community' is so fractured that a one size fits all, balanced experience is nigh on impossible to create.
We can't agree on TTK.
We can't agree on spotting.
We can't agree on Tonks.
And we will never agree on Air.
We can't even agree on women but that is a whole other debate.
So again, balanced in whose opinion?
The people who enjoy a server will insist it is balanced whilst those that don't, won't. Who is right and who is wrong? - @Trokey66 the life of a gamer.
If I was given the task on answering this question, I would use player retention statistics.
How long is a players general duration per gaming session?
Are we keeping the same player base? and is it increasing, steady, or decreasing?
Are players fractured into game modes created by the community or the company?
Is the player base growing MoM.
I would use metrics like mentioned above and model it. This would be my way of finding answers to those questions. And it may not be the right way but right now while drinking my coffee, that is what I came up with. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@ghinavirus A method along those lines is sensible but what if DICE based BF2042 from a similar method?
We know that they made all weapons and gadgets all class based of similar data for example so under those circumstances, specialists make perfect sense. - @Trokey66 Thats actually an interesting way of looking at this. What if they did? That may be the actual truth about specialist....
Thinking about your question, there may be a lot of weight behind it. Definitely a twist and something to think about. - carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Trokey66This is a great reminder for everyone.
EA DICE would be unwise to make decisions based simply off “feeling” and copying what other games are doing. They have to be supported by data.
Data driven analysis led to them removing the single player campaign and it is likely that it influenced some other decisions as well.
Lastly @zxcwudi666 , to call Portal the “top priority mode” is rather short sighted. I have emphasized from the beginning that Portal certainly had potential, but it is clearly built on the foundation of Battlefield 2042. Further, you cannot play Portal without also purchasing Battlefield 2042. So, the base game really needs to be solid.
The future data may support the notion that Portal is more popular than the base game, but not if the base game scares people away. Everyone here that wants and hopes for Portal, should be hoping that that Battlefield 2042 is just as successful… Portal actually doesn't interest me that much.
I guess because the beta was fun and new and I'm open to playing Hazard Zone as well. And Portal thus seems like a distraction. IT seems like too much actually.
It feels like EA could have sold Portal separately. It feels like a different game entirely.

Exactly, that's why I'm looking forward to it.
There's a chance to create the battlefield I want to play.

the problem with creating your own battlefield is finding 64-128 others to play it at the same time. 🙂

If not, I expect to find a good clan server as in the past. Another problem with PC is officiale server with broken AC. I prefer to play on servers with active admins.
It could easily be sold as a separate game. I'm not going to play Hazard Zone or with 20+ specialists. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
@SirBobdkI refer you to post #26 on page 3, decent and established platoon servers could, of course, aliviate this but I fear there will be many disappointed that their vision doesn't succeed (not necessarily a bad thing mind).

Agree, We have not seen much about the portal and it could very well happen that we get disappointed. It takes a long time to get a good server up and running, if ever.
