From a perspective of a ground troop trying to take out a jet, good luck. I tried over and over and nine times out of ten you can't even get a lock on a jet. There are a million things from wires to tree limbs to smoke and badly shaped hit boxes on objects to keep a lock on from happening. If you do happen to get a spot that's clear, the jet is just too fast (if the pilot knows his craft). He's gone out of range before lock on can happen.
As to against helos, It's hard to impossible for a jet to take down a helo alone. I don't know who thinks a helo is as fast as a jet wide open, but just no. I'm not sure how a helo could take a jet if the pilot is any good.
I think jets are nigh on to worthless except against other jets....

I'm specifically making a comparison between jets and choppers here, so gonna ignore your first paragraph (for now, might write a response later).
"It's hard to impossible for a jet to take down a helo alone"
That is part of the problem because, on the other hand a decent chopper pilot + people operating the turrets could fairly easily take down a jet."I don't know who thinks a helo is as fast as a jet wide open, but just no."
IRL, jets are obviously substantially faster than choppers but in the game (in part for balance reasons), jets are not that much faster than choppers - the choppers (at least some of them) are fast enough to tail jets and damage them continually, without giving the jet a chance to replenish hp."I'm not sure how a helo could take a jet if the pilot is any good."
Have you actually encountered good chopper pilots + crew as a JET player? They can damage the jets ridiculously fast, and it's even worst if they are camping at the top boundary of the map
So? Who says jets have to be as powerful as a chopper
Air is whining

Just make ceiling for helos 425M. That will fix a bunch of issues at once

Boy would it ever!

Jets pretty much have a single purpose in this game - to deal with other vehicles and they HAVE to be decent at this; otherwise, they would be obsolete.
"Who says jets have to be as powerful as a chopper"
They need to be good ENOUGH to be able to deal with choppers; if the helicopter wins in the immense majority of jet vs chopper encounters (where pilots are similarly skilled), this again would make the jets utterly pointless
I only ever use vehicles to deal with other vehicles. It is also apparent from the scoreboard that at least some of the helicopters are OP against both infantry and ground vehicles. - Metal_Daryl973 years agoSeasoned Ace
That's a pretty good idea!

Well since they rightly nerfed their AGM reload time, I don't care about jets anymore so I really don't mind that they are hard to take out from the ground.
They have little impact against the ground war now so I'm not sure why an infantry player would be so intent on taking them down.
