Re: Keyboard and mouse on consoles

Double checking: it's still possible for us PC gamers to opt out of playing with console gamers, right? My CoD: BO4 experience with console gamers wasn't great and I rather play with PC players only.

@infantrypeasantConsole users can opt out of crossplay which pretty much everyone will do. Which means most (if not all) of players in a crossplay lobby will be PC. Putting M&K console users with these players should make sure that there is no disparity between the inputs the players in your game use and shouldn't affect controller user experience. Also this ensures crossplay doesn't go to waste.

@A_al_K_pacino_A Controller aim assist will pretty much be the same regardless of whether or not there is M&K support for consoles because crossplay will still exist. I do not think they two are related.

Trust me we'd rather not play with you either. PC gamers are a different kind of "special"

I checked the beta FAQ but didn't see anything about mouse support. Guess we'll find out during the open beta.

  • For the the Next gen console players opting out of cross-play. Expect a pretty empty server space.

Don't forget the install base of Series X and PS5 is still pretty low. Basically 11 mil on PS5 and 7-8 Million on Seriesx/s..

Out of those not many will buy and play an online MP shooter like BF2042. So perhaps a few hundred thousand across the world. Then different time of day playing and regions.

Could be pretty empty servers or very high ping.

Console controller players get aim-assist etc. Didn't seem to be any issue with Modern Warfare crossplay, controller players held their own pretty good in that game.

@Hooligan-XX76 Yeah but the cheating issue from PC players still exist which should be a good enough reason for consoles to opt out and start populating console only servers. When people catch on to it, the only players in a crossplay lobby left will be PC.. unless they add in M&K support for consoles 😏
  • "Hey EA,

Huge fan of the Battlefield franchise (even though I didn't play the last two because they were absolute 'trash').

As a longtime veteran of camping in tanks right outside my team's spawn, I feel that you should pay extra special attention to what I have to say here.

So hey listen, my K/D is garbage and I need a new way to 'pwn the noobs' that doesn't come from actually playing the game on a level field/developing my skills, so I was thinking you could just give me K&M support on console. I know I could play on PC, but I don't want to get my * plowed on a daily basis by legitimate PC players.  And even though this would give me a distinct advantage over other console players, it's necessary because I'm physically unable to use a console controller (despite owning a console).  You see EA, I got this condition: I can only play FPS games with a K&M, my hands just don't work with a controller, like I tried to hold one the other day and it just fell through my hands (I have similar problems using TV remotes and cooking utensils). So make this change for me or else I won't be buying your dumb game. I only get so much money for my birthday each year and I simply can't waste it on games where I can't cheese the competition."

God bless/help you- Most of you rn

  • If anyone has cared to read the Microsoft Xbox software tos or they conveniently forget about it……it’s against the software tos to use any unofficial peripherals and has been for years!

As to it being enforced is another thing but it’s there in black and white.

No idea why you would want to play against pc players because in my first 2 games of battlefield 1 today both games were rife with cheaters…… be careful with what you wish for!

Well that's to say, Xbox don't want you to use a knock off controller of theirs. But that's what people do, and if there's no way or inability to enforce it they're going to use it.

In addition, EA or DICE, has not made any statement thereof, that Xim or Cronus is forbidden on their games, or put out a patch or update to make that so.

And so look, what i'm trying to do is get a statement from EA that k&m is not allowed on their games as per Xim or Cronus.

And if that statement is not forthcoming, you can use it.

If Xbox or EA has an enforcement mechanism to assure these devices cannot be used, or render them useless or inoperable, i'm sure an update could zap them.

  • Dice or ea have absolutely no say as to what peripherals can be used.

Its either official controller or official kb/m

Thats part of the tcr dice has to adhere to if they want to produce games for sale on the Xbox platform.

Ok, and being they have no way to prevent it, and have to divert to Xbox, and Xbox with no way to divert as much as they cant divert a knock off cheap controller, you can use the devices.

I mean, have you heard of anyone being banned on BF for using a k&m or Xim?

If we can see some examples, that may prevent people from using them. But if not, it's all systems go.

Well that's the whole point. When they say or make it that you can't use it, then you cannot. But atp, you can use them.

Like you can use an HD not licensed by Xbox, or a controller, or many things.

Great. That's what i'm trying to say. When they make them inoperable, they won't use them.

On that game and system they may have. On this game they may not. Until they do, i'm sure folks will use them.

EDIT- That seems to be a matter of Sony's 'Dualsense" not being compatible. Not that it was banned per se by R6 or Sony.

  • People still use them with games that have native kb/m because you still retain aim assist and that’s why Sony have gave devs the tools to stop it.

From what I can gather sony updated it’s software tos and I bet they updated their tcr so devs have to use the tools to stop these devices if you want to make games for the system

Xim has to update it in so it's compatible with the Dual Sense mechanism, which they likely will.

Cronus had a problem with PS4 cutting out, until they came out with a bridge port to solve it.
  • Ps5 requires a handshake with a ps5 dual sense controller so I presume there’s some encryption so no update is fixing it and even if they do somehow crack the encryption Sony will absolutely take them to town in the courts in regards to xim

Like i said, it's not Sony, but Xim will have to update, if they did not already, and they may have.

It's not about court fights, its what happens to these devices when new systems come into play.

For Sony to have done what you imply, could render other matters, that Sony may even endorse to be rendered useless. So, my guess is that's its a Xim issue.

I think M&K support for consoles should be added in a way that doesn't victimize controller players. If controller users opt out of playing with M&K then they shouldn't go against them. The best way is to put M&K console users in a crossplay lobby (against PCs) and deny them the option to opt out. They will be prone to going against cheaters but it's no different to what PC players experience. Using M&K does come with a price and it's something only the user should be willing to pay and not anyone else. If I use M&K on consoles I will do so fully knowing that I am prone to cheaters. No one else should take the bullet.

LMAO,  I completely understand.  As some have the AMAZING THUMBS full of aimboting cheats.    I play games on pc and on my ps5.  I know the pain.  Hang in there and your mouse reaction will get better......

Jelly PS5 player that has no mouse and keyboard support and my THUMBS do NOT cooperate with my eyes.
