I saw 1 person say a good idea.
If you have crossplay disabled, limit to Controller and if crossplay enabled allow you to chose your preferred play style whether it be M&K or Controller.
It would make sense then that way it keeps it some what even and matched up, with them enabling crossplay from day 1 but no M&K for consoles may be a mistake to make.

Many complain, because of the pairing with those who play on PC and Controller, simply the video game console, it is a team, regardless of which peripheral you use! If I played with a video console with M&K and removed the pairing, the system I should recognize my video console as if it were a PC for the simple fact of playing with M&K and voila !, Crossplay already exists and you can deactivate it or not! Whoever wants to play on a PC and with a Controller, the same thing would happen, when deactivating Crossplay, as it should recognize it as if it were playing on a console, just by having the controller connected, and in this way you only play with controller players! It's so easy to see it like this! Today, video consoles and games must allow the versatility of peripherals that the user wants to play! It is in the game where you can take control of whether or not to play with Controller or with M&K and without or with Crossplay. And everyone is happy!
In my case, I have my XBOX Series X, and I would like to play BF2042 with M&K, to avoid buying a video card, processors etc. on my current PC, for the simple fact of saving me some money, that I can use it better in the game! Nowadays it is more difficult to get a PC peripheral than a current video console! Knowing that the game is optimized on my XBOX!

I just gave BF V another try with controller and I have to say, I hate it. Played Warzpne with mouse and keyboard like all of you guys and it seems the balance they figured out worked quite well. I donโt understand how EA/DICE can feature crossplay with PC players but then donโt allow mouse and keyboard support. Donโt get it in my head. All of my friends who grew up in the CS 1.6 era came back during covid to play Warzone on their consoles with mouse and keyboard. Those people never played any shooter in console because controller just sucks big time.

Donโt miss this opportunity. I guess you underestimate the player base that wonโt play the game because you wonโt do the work and find a good balance between aim assist on controller and mouse and keyboard support.
@ZjemCiKolege this and based on their skill balance MM algorithm. It works quite well since MW2019, also in Cold War. I always have pretty balanced rounds and, oh wonder, this mythic "MnK dominate gamepad players" only happend in the beginning when my skill was analyzed!
It feels like the developers at DICE have been guided by the gate-keeping of the console community and actually believe this sh!t that any MnK user is a proGamer.
For faQQ's sake, add some skill based team balancer or server rules that won't allow players to join a match with opponents way below their skill level - and I mean real skill level
= based on accuracy, TTK etc.,
not this points per minute or KD crap, which are nice to look at, but just empty jars in any game's business intelligence.
Following this approach would also make sure that the better gamepad users, who usually dominate the open wild public servers with 100+ kills, have to face a challenge as well.
I wonder why nobody cries UNBALANCED in this respective cases, only when it comes to MnK ๐ก
DICE really have to get it implemented asap - actually it just needs them implementing the resp. part of the product from their PC branch of the game.
Due to MW I completely gave up playing FPS games on my PC and migrated to console. And BF finally has to follow the trend. Damn, even Halo, a far smaller franchise, limited to XB and PC, is already there - even though it did not work correctly in the recent beta.
At least they recognized the trend - actually it even happend in Gears 5 on XBox as well.
hmm anyway i download beta and in menu screen is detected like keyboard in cod ps icons changed to keyboard

I love how Dice post is about โFair playโ. And the. Immediately states PC group you can use the input of your choice, M&K or game pad. Counsel players you only get to use game pads.

whelp not much I can do about it, but vote with my wallet and not buy. Shame, itโll be the first BF game I havenโt bought/played since BF 2. Maybe theyโll get their collect heads out of their bums and get it right in time for Bad company 3 or 2142 2โฆ
I totally agree with mouse and keyboard support.
For me, the best option wouldโve been to make next gen consoles play with each other innately, and disabling cross play would be just for PC users. Instead, Iโm sort of stuck with either just PS5 players (which might have issues with player count) or with cross play, where PC players, besides just M&K, have a distinct advantage.

How do you primary console players equate M/KB support with fairness on your platform, when i'm guessing a good majority play with controllers?
I get that M/KB is better (and in this thread, i'll leave the chronos/xin bit out) for FPS games, but it's a pretty decent advantage over controller users in most cases even if aim assist has evened the field somewhat.
I really don't have a problem with people wanting M/KB support and prefer playing FPS games with it, but if it's a question of "fair", then it seems somewhat obvious why they might have chosen to nix it for the time being (as others have said, it might get added later) seeing as quite a few, if not most console players will be on controller.
I'm mostly curious because of the large amount of console players who want to opt out from pc (which i get), but on the flipside want m/kb support even if all it does is skew balance severely even if we leave out other ways it would get even more unbalanced.
(imo, those options are no better than aimbots on PC to be fair and i'm not suggesting that's the primary reason people want M/KB support on consoles).

You M&K guys on console fail to realize you're such a miniscule minority that wants to use M&K on console.
I'm sure they've already put thought into input based lobbies allowing M&K with crossplay turned on and not allowing it with it off, and if crossplay with PC ends up being an absolute nightmare I'm sure they'll possibly flip the switch on that as well I wouldn't doubt it.
DICE have already said they'll be looking into possibly implementing it somehow so what more do you want?
It's too bad ya'll aren't as vocal with having a console to console crossplay option only excluding PC from it.
Why don't Console players just stay Console players (with a controller) and PC players stay PC players (with M&K) ๐

If someone is already thinking of playing with M&K, why not just play on PC directly and buy the game for this platform if it feels more right to you. ๐ (talking only for Battlefield/Shooters)
Anyways, if the Team says it won't be there just yet but they're still looking into this to try making it possible in a proper way. Then we just have to wait and see.

@Fringerunnerfirst of all: Not every MnK user is as precisely as a pro. Many good gamepad users can compete with intermediate MnK players - I can see this in CoD myself.
And regarding "fairness" you won't find this in the open wilds of BF public servers with its massive skill gap between all player types.
Those types can be beginners on BF, beginners on FPS games, beginners on gamepads - which may apply to one player all at once.
On the other hand you have experienced BF players, experienced FPS gamers, experienced gamepad users - which may apply to one player all at once.
Especially on consoles this is a major issues. You have so many players there, who finish rounds with 100+ eliminations.
So, even without MnK support on consoles you don't have any kinda of balance / fairness.
DICE needs to establish some skill based key figures e.g.accuracy, TTK etc. to balance things on the servers / deny players to butcher beginner servers etc. ...already posted it before in this thread.
After that we can talk about FAIRNESS. Because under this circumstances this word is nothing but an empty jar.
@Normandy-HitchieI have a question for you, what did you do exactly when there wasn't M&K support on consoles? did you just not play it? Consoles have been primarily used with a controller every gen, and last time I checked they don't come with a M&K out of the box.
I'm personally not a fan of PC players wanting to change the console platform to fit their specific wants, if someone has a disability though that's a different story.
@TankerFlankerdisability or not, it doesn't matter. Accessibilty may be also important to me, but in the end any game is a piece of software and the more input devices are supported the better for all players! The platform doesn't matter, except it doesn't support USB and the drivers - which consoles do since PS4/XB1 or even before that.
And those "specific needs", like you called them, well, without them we will still see specific game genres being excluded from consoles or being inefficiently to control. E.g. tell me a single RTS game which has been launched on PlayStation. Hard to remember? Yeah, I understand, because there wasn't any!
Even turn-based strategy is stripped down to gamepad controls like Civilization or Age of Wonders, only because those urban gaming legends of gate-keeping say "MnK aren't welcome on consoles" - I still remember C&C1 on PS1 with a mouse, but yeah... same goes for isometric RPGs like Pathfinder, Diablo or Pillars of Eternity 1+2. I bet Tyranny wasn't launched on consoles because of this issue.
But hey, you have high capable consoles, that could easily run the newest Company of Heroes, even Total War on medium settings, naah, rather buy a +1-1.5k PC to run those games, because consoles aren't shipped with devices worth 20-30 bucks, eeehm, YEAH...
I wonder how VR fits into this narrative. Can't remember finding this gadget in the PlayStation box too, even though the games are out there...
And to answer you about my attitude towards missing MnK support on games:
I've been playing on consoles for several years now, also Battlefield! I got used to the gamepad controls after months of tweaking and practice, which works fine except on planes.
But I also play CoD with MnK since Modern Warfare introduced it and mixed lobbies are always balanced to me. More balanced than Battlefield has ever been on consoles since BF1, because of the massive skill gap - which will be increased even more due to Crossplay with PC. So yeah, I wanna enjoy Battlefield the same way I do in CoD. Balanced and efficiently to play as same as anyone on PC. And CoD shows pretty awesome that there is not issue at all when it comes to balance. Battlefield just needs proper balance tools for servers rules, teambalance and matchmaking.

We are in 2021, not year 2000 with PC vs Console war mentality.
My favorite platform is a 400โฌ PS5 and my favorite input is M&K. Period.
Also, why enabling cross-play if one platform can use only one input method and the other two?
I understand the whole concept of reunite the player-base, but you have to put effort in the unifying process or some will be favorite and some demotivated.
Just slap a โcross-play enabler optionโ on the game is not enough at all.
wow, I was playing on my ps5 now and you know what most of my deaths were when they were gamers with a mouse and keyboard on pc ๐)) where they got faster aiming and more accurately, it's a pity that I couldn't connect the mouse and keyboard on the ps5 console, it would make this game easier for me ๐
Why the devs dont add this support? We only go against other m&k users so what is the problem? We need more information about this.

But I want to be free, too, to use what I want. And in a FPS game is obviously M&K.
By-the-way, the beta feels really good apart from some graphic glitches on vehicles and stutter visuals.
Aiming with a controller and get rekted by someone that can use M&K feels not good at all.
