I'm asking if DICE would upload a clip of character animations at a higher frame rate so I can better judge it. That's because the latest video seems to be 30 FPS and it could just look stiff, clunky because of the low frame rate. - RaginSam4 years agoSeasoned Ace

BF3 and BF4 both feel pretty good, but BF5 currently is my favorite for movement and 2042 felt even better. It was one of the least clunky games I’ve played.@RaginSam having actually played both the Beta and technical test the movement and animations were stiff and clunky just like Apex and completely unlike the fluid movement of BF3-5 so I agree with @Popa2caps 's observation. Naturally all of this is highly subjective.

@ragnarok013
Well I was talking more or less about this video.
In the beta kept noticing networking issues everywhere. - @Popa2caps while I agree about the movement, in this particular video the game breaking aspects of the EMG-X, the targeting grenade, and the bullet reflecting riot shield were my main concerns. ;-)
- @ragnarok013 Apex feels clunky to you? What game would you consider to have smooth movement then?
I think most people find Apex to be one of the most polished movement games out there.

I think most people find Apex to be one of the most polished movement games out there.@0_oRage yes Apex and COD have always felt stiff and clunky to me animation wise - the similarity is probably due to Apex/Titanfall/COD all being COD devs or former COD devs using the same engine and techniques to make games. Games with smooth fluid movement to me are BF3, BF4, BF1, even BF5 and non-BF games such as Doom, Rage 2, Quake Champions, and Halo Infinite. It was apparent to me that DICE was copying Apex's movement in 2042 as the animations to me even looked stiff as I played the 2042 Tech Test and Beta. When I played BF3/4/5 after the Beta the difference felt even more drastic.
@ragnarok013 After the Beta, I had to cleanse my soul by installing BF4 again. Trust me.
Beta gave me a shock. The movements looked way worse than even BF4, which wasn't the best.
BFV was the peak.- @TheFireOfTitan I don't know. I tried to play BF4 after the beta, but I don't really care for it anymore. Still playing BF5 and think it's probably my favorite Battlefield game so far.
For it's time BF3 was amazing though. BF2042 felt very smooth to me. I'm pretty picky about movement too. Animations definitely felt bad in the beta. Not as bad as BF5s animation diarrhea but the transition between one movement to another did not feel smooth at all.

Exactly. Looking at enemy and team mates animations was bad. Even in youtube videos on high end PC-s. Again, not talking about our soldier’s movement. I am talking about other characters movement. They were hopping around like a bad digital jerky bunny 3 FPS or something. BFV was peak. Soooo smooth and properly attached to the ground. Not walking in the corner on a treadmill. At this point this is all i care about to have a good game. I don’t even care anymore about specialists and balancing and TTK etc.

Ian be barking up the wrong tree here but using this video as an example, it doesn't look that bad.....
Again though, till we see it in the full game, we can't really are a full and objective observation.

I don’t see any enemy or team mate animations in that video. I thought that was what we are discussing. Not how you control your soldier.

I have the same feeling on ps4. Conversely Ps5 version looks ok.
