Re: PLease add a functionality for no-streamer games

@killlluaaa there are already 127 players watching you at any given time in this game, or 63... do you really think anyone watching a streamer gives two [CM - removed] about you ? they do not care and will never care

I'm sorry but you can't speak for the whole internet by yourself. People have various reactions. Noone knows what someone will do with a given information. What you know is : was the infomation necessary ? Or Not ? And : was there 3 players on screen, ? or did 10 000 of them see me on theirs ?

@killlluaaa because if i am watching a streamer i do nothing but look out for everyone else on the server and stalk their respective usernames to get their social security numbers and steal their identities... do you also wear a pixilated outfit if you go out in public?

Where I take it seriously. I gave most of the reasons that seem to me to have some weight. And again i'm not saying to ban all streamers. I just want to be able to play without them if i choose to. Cause so far noone asked me.

Again you can only speak for yourself. It would be unwise to think all the internet is like you.

Hard to take this seriously, you're in public server but don't want the public watching you?

Maybe go play single player game instead?

  • Tell me would you enter a house on fire cause you didn't burn yourself that much with a lighter, so it's safe too ?

    Numbers and intensity matter too.

Simply don't enter then, nobody is forcing you to.

Go out and get some air and enjoy the day.
  • And why not implement what i suggested ? What if i want to play the game without being filmed by some people followed by the masses ?

@killlluaaa I can’t imagine how they could manage to do that, many would be stoked to be on somebodies streamed game. I wouldn’t, I think they’re all toxic and get far more attention than they deserve. Check out the stats on a streamer and tell me he’s not playing with a little something extra. Lots of players record too. You might end up getting booted out of a round if somebody starts to stream or record, as the alternative would be nobody could record because one player doesn’t want it? So an opt out option would likely be you getting kicked. I get where you’re coming from, I can’t see a path forward for it. I imagine there’s something in the EULA about it.
  • Well i would prefer having a filter since the start of the match and play with people with the same filter, like a matchmaking option but if there is no other way, being kicked and starting another game if the option is activated would be better than nothing. Only problem is there are many streamers.

Or maybe just a no streamer server. Depends on the population it would involve, i have no idea the numbers that would bring.

    1. I don't run into streamers that often.

    2. Do you really think that streamers and/or those watching are really paying attention to you specifically?

    3. No offense, but you seem paranoid thatthey are aout to get you. It's a viddy game, just play and enjoy.

@killlluaaaLets pretend you're being serious for a moment.

How do you see this feature being implemented? With how easy it is to stream content these days, how can you possibly make "no streamer game"? You want Dice monitoring some 100k daily players so see if they're streaming on Twitch, YouTube, Discord, Onlyfans or what else?

How can you even classify someone as a "streamer"? Its not an official requirement to label your account as "Streamer"

And besides all that, you understand that server information is totally public? During Battlelog and server browser days anyone could open up game status and see all the nicknames in there. You want your nick to be invisible too?

    I'm not trolling.

How to know who is a streamer ? Make them whitelist themselves, like a checkbox in their options "streaming account" or maybe a hotkey to toggle "currently streaming" i f you prefer. Or anything else that does the job. How to play without them ? add a matchmaking option for that.

Account name is public -> add an option to randomize it. Like : account name "Barnaby" displays as "Max145" and changes regularly, like each game or each session, picking from a given pool of reserved anonymous names.

As i said it was written in my first post. I feel sorry you didn't catch that.

If that helps you understand, if some small streamers don't bother whitelisting themselves and the feature misses them, it's not much of a big deal, say these guys have 5 viewers each, it's not a problem that is on the same level as if the guys who brought 100k viewers didn't click it.

I mean... game streamers would just have a box to check or something equivalent. Doesn't look like something too hard to ask for.

And if you think that makes the feature incomplete, people who don't want them could just blacklist the remaining ones they happen to know as well.

I'm not even asking for a perfect solution. If i could just filter most streamers from my games it would already be something, even if they don't declare themselves and i miss 5% of them. Say i reduce the people watching me to 150-200 people in a 128 player match, that would be good. I just don't want 1k, 10k or 100k additional people to watch me and so on. Same goes for recorded videos.

Also to reply to the guy above, i feel sad having to state obvious things, but i'll reply. I don't believe all people pay attention to me specifically and all the time.

What i know is some idle 100k viewers pay 1000 times more attention to me than the usual 100 regular players who also already have their own game to play and are necessary to my game, and all these viewers mutiply all kinds of risks and possible problems.

As i already said, numbers matter. Do you take the same risks when you go fishing with noone around in the countryside near home and when you go to a late night world tour concert of *insert your music star here* ? I don't see what's difficult to grasp here.

@killlluaaa my brother in christ there is one! streamer who can bring at best 1000 people to watch 2042. have you looked at the twitch viwer numbers for Battlefield games lately? across the entire globe it averages about 3000 people worldwide... BF has never been a streamer heavy game and the few streamers this game does have mostly sit at around 150-300 people watching said streamers.... noone cares about your username whatsoever... do you also pixle out your license plate on your car? since you can never know if someone wrote down your license plate and attempts to use that information against you.....

1 k people is already a lot of people. And that's just for one streamer, nothing prevents a match to have several at once. Also streamers often post recorded videos of their streams on YT etc and the number of views for each record can increase another time and reach much higher numbers.

And avoiding being in the stream would avoid me being in the video as well.

@killlluaaa Again, you didn't answer the question of enforcing such a "requirement". I'm also pretty sure it's against some government rules to force people to mark themselves as "streamers". Everyone must be able to play on a same field without getting marked X or Y just because they stream or not.

Once again, its a public game with public servers.

So what happens if a recorded game where you get killed get published on some big channel like JackFrags? Will you sue him for breaching your personal space?

I also can get some mad killstreak, record it and send to BF top clips channel. Will you sue me or that channel for showing how I killed you?

I said streamers to "mark" themselves as you say for the devs to know to have the feature work. I didn't say to enforce people on that. It's just a click. I would expect most streamers to click it by themselves.

Players don't need to know that much, so i'm not 100% sure, for people who already broadcast themselves and others on internet on purpose, where the problem would be to click an option internal to the devs data to say they do

I'm pretty sure streaming is already a much bigger "mark" by itself. If you can't stand a boolean in an encryped database, tell me why do you stream ? As for the other question, was that a real question ?

    Serious questions for OP.

Does playing the game authorize your character to be recorded?

Do you have to give consent?

Recording conversations without consent is illegal in many states; so do streamers have permission to post your voice chat?

  • Well i am not much of a jurist, i was just looking for something coming out of a bit of people's goodwill considering the points i gave.

Now your questions seem important, but i can't answer them myself. I know very little of this, especially international right. I could try say something but i'm not confident enough in this, far from it.

So i prefer saying nothing than saying something wrong.

All i can say is GDPR applies where i live, i heard a bit about it. I dont remember if the game asked me anything, was some years ago.

I see your point. What I don't understand is — respectfully — what is the difference between 127 players 'watching how you play' vs. say, 10000 people watching it...?

If this is the case: we've all played matches where we've been embarrassed by top players. No offense, but just ignore what someone may or may not think of you...

If the problem is messaging, yes, I got messages from random players after a match and they were all innocuous. Many funny; some calling me a "rat" (going down 0-5 is not taken lightly by some...?); others complaining "why did you not revive me?" (I did not notice is the answer). Chill and all be well.

  • Well in my view, in a given match there are not really 127 players watching me, but a fraction of it.

I may often only encounter 30-50 players in a given match, and not all of them at once. Maybe i'll just have one opponent on screen or vicinity most of the time. Where 10k viewers with a good view/sound on me for for some time would be much more people.

Also real players are busy playing their game for the most part, where viewers are more subject to looking around the screen and noticing details. So, many more people may watch me from it, and they are also more available than regular players to do so.

Like i remember in another BF game some years ago, my char once was downed for 10 minutes instead of a few seconds. I never asked for it. I never cheat or anything, maybe there is my very bad K/D somewhere you can see. Say the bug is so that any medic could res me.If i'm unlucky on the visual setup people might think i cheat.

One busy player seing me being ressed after being downed for 2 minutes may ignore it, or perform one report cause he feels grumpy. Now put a big streamer instead watching that. You may end up with 1k reports and receive a heavy ban. In the same situation, that nearly happened to me some years ago.

I could imagine so many sitations like this that it would be endless. Again, numbers matter. There is a reason why people often feel better in toilets than in a crowded train station as another example, people don't dare do the same things for a reason.

Also, as to ignore what people think of you : i kind of do that too. But it depends on the situation. I already got harassed daily in another MMO for around one year and it didn't feel good. There is a limit to what people can ignore. You seem to imagine casual conversations, and yes BF has mostly casual ones, but things are not always this way. And things can reach outside of the game too is you are out of luck.
