Re: South Africa server, yeah?

Don't think we ever had BF servers in Africa for aka the console players?

And as @Its_Travis_199 points out, that is a problem for the gameplay experience, as even the nearest servers in Europe still at best results in a latency of around 180ms in average for the South Africa based players...

    @CyberDymeWe had Africa/South Africa console specific servers since BF1 my guy...

    It's a bit different this time around because of Crossplay variants, but yeah local servers are nothing new.

    EDIT: No offense, but how did you not know this? 😳

    My bad @LJBattlefield obviously!  😂 🤣

    I simply dropped playing BF1 after around 4 weeks of trying it out.

    And BFV I dropped after just one week.

    Neither had truly Africa based servers at that time.

    I know we didnt have it in BF4 and still don't.  Please note that I am referring to truly physical existing servers in Africa!  So yes, you can go into the server rental area and say you want it for Africa, also these days in aka BF4.  And its marked as 'Africa' in the server parameter.  But the server is physically not in Africa.  Hence the server performance is not the same, as if you had a real server setup in aka Johannesburg, South Africa.

    Now with crossplay I agree we finally could get servers much more 'close to home', as the PC BF server partners that EA have are having a much broader and diverse network of server park locations!  Aka for consoles we have just one in Europe.  While for PC we have many more across more countries.  So the future looks promising, also for our African BF friends!

    Seeing as this is an online multiplayer game that EA are selling worldwide, they really need to up their game with regards server locations.

    @CyberDyme @LJBattlefield

    My expectations on the servers was according to what i saw in the previous games.

    I checked the server browser options in BF4, BF1 and BFV on console (PS4/PS5) and all 3 games had "African" available in the "choose Region" option.

    So for that i guessed if they offer the option to choose the region, they should actually provide servers which are located in Africa or at least a close area that supports a good game experience and connection for those who play from the African region.

    And for that, if Battlefield 2042 will have African region available to choose as well i think there will be also good located servers for players from that region.

    Players in many other key regions have suffered similarly.

    Like in South America where all physical located servers were cancelled out in some past BF games, so they either had to goto aka North America, or much worse Europe or Japan to join servers to play on...

    We also have observed lack of servers for the ANZ region, which again is too far away for them to get proper gameplay experience if joining Japan or European based servers.

    Now with many players getting online in India and China, then also that part of Asia needs to be much better served versus the past, as when they join our aka European servers today, they instantly bring it to a halt with rubberbanding and bullet sponging for everybody else also on the server.

    Yeah, geographically limited AWS is a major bugbear with EA Sports titles such as Madden too.  "Keep Things Fair"

    @CyberDymeYeah, lack of response from EA is bad news here, they should at least let people here know, people have pre-ordered...

    Having no local server means 200ms, means game is basically not very playable anymore.

    I REALLY hope EA aren't ignoring the question because they don't want to lose any pre-orders.  JUST A YES NO ARE THERE SOUTH AFRICAN SERVERS??????

    @Lanten101 @LJBattlefield

    Pretty sure that picture is just supposed to tell the players the different time zones when the Beta will be available for them to pre-load and play according to their local time.

    The Team is used to show this type of thing.

    Already been used back ten for many different things like when a official BF1 or BFV stream, Youtube Vid or any other special even was happening. To let people know which time around it will be for them.

    To not miss it.
