Re: The case FOR specialists

@BaronVonGoon You have written a lot but not really put forward any positives to the specialist system that couldn't have been largely done by tweaking the class system. As you point out, the only reason for this change was EA hope to make more money by enticing new players. They didn't do it because they think it will improve the battlefield experience.
As for giving players more choice, well how that works out is yet to be seen. But if there was a lack of team work in games with the class system, I can't see enough players 'taking one for the team' and choosing a non meta loadout, if it puts them at a disadvantage. Time will tell on that one.

    @ninjapenquinukDICE/EA hate simple solutions.

    Instead of taking a few simple steps from Point A to B like this

    A =========>B

    They will instead go like this in a roundabout way

    A.....................B <= \\

    @ninjapenquinukwhatever the meta is going to be, the specialist with med kits and ammo kits are always going to be a part of it. There are always going to be newer or unskilled players who need to use med kits, theyll be alot of them running medic specialists. There are always going to be strong players who run out of ammo, lots of them will run as ammo specialists.

    I'm not sure we're permitted to discuss leaks here but grandma isnt the only medic specialist.

    Also, speaking of metas. One of the more fun aspects in Overwatch is metas constantly change. You're always forced to try new things in order to adapt.

    @BaronVonGoon The acid test will be how many people are willing to give up a rocket launcher for a med/ammo box. On vehicle heavy maps, I just don't see it. Also the map size may incentivize rocking a launcher of some kind as you don't know what you are going to run into over the next hill.
    Time will tell, but it just doesn't sit right with me because this change was unnecessary and all about MTX$$.

    Wow  all about class balance that why need BF4 class balance back so those upstart support players get the second rate weapons again.  It just not fair as a killing machine every player now has just as much advantage as me.

    Why did Engineer run Carbine/DMR? Why did Recon run Carbines/shotguns? Yet Assault only ran AR?  Hmm I wonder.

    As for gadgets which every BF has been getting less new gadgets and some class are the dumping ground while others could have more but making a class the Meta seems to be the goal for some rather then fair balance.

    Specialist allow new gadgets to be added without it being a requirement to carry something else.  Like in past BF your Support you should always carry ammo or your Medic you should also have paddles and health so all they are feeds to others.  That scares so many that they may have to do those roles now. I like the idea we could see skis,  NVG or scuba as possible new gadgets on top of wingsuits without making a single class the Meta across all BF042 maps.

    That is the point specialist allow new gadgets for team roles if you choose and if you want to be Rambo you can go ahead too but you can't expect others to be your feeder.
