As a former Rao+SOFLAM main.

99% of pilots worth killing will flare at the beginning of the hack.

Even if the vehicle is hacked/targeted no one can take advantage of it due to the flares. It's not a doomsday scenario.

That said I do agree that SOFLAM now seems rather pointless based on what we do know.  Lis seems clearly the best anti-vehicle specialist and cannot benefit from SOFLAM.  SOFLAM locks are still easily countered by flares, it's unlikely any M5/FXM user is sending a missile unless they suspect flares are still recharging.

Lastly the re-introduction of the 3D spot mechanic is not only faster, but free version of the SOFLAM spotting feature.
