Re: Why does the new scoreboard show fake scores?

There's 8 columns. Place, name, score, kills, deaths, assists, revives, and captures.

Killing 1 player adds 1 kill to the kill column. The same is true for the deaths, assists, revives, and captures columns.

The score column is where EXP points are added up. Like +25 EXP for a kill.

I don't understand what the x0, x1, x2, stuff is. But as you can see FlyingSquirrel only has one flag capture despite that column having x3.

I'm guessing x3 is some kind of EXP multiplier for the score column, but that really doesn't make sense and I have no idea what the designer was thinking.

@OskooI_007 The multipliers for the columns do equal the score column. That's what Edge is saying, the score column has no relation to your actual XP.

I see now. Yeah that's a really weird way of scoring EXP. I guess DICE never coded anything into the server software to add up the actual EXP players earn during each match.

@OskooI_007 Dude it's ridiculous, that score is completely irrelevant with random weights? What is the point?

Maybe they could also show a completely random stat in your squad EOR screen so no one has hurt feelings when they are last in every category because they camped the entire round, but hey they had 1x Ranger kill!

ActMan shows how the scoring system in BF2042 is dull and unexciting compared to the scoring system in BF1. There's a huge difference in the excitement level.

@OskooI_007 The x2/x3 are multipliers, so for each kill you get 2 points. For each flag capture you get 3 points.

It has nothing to do with the actual in-game point system that exists and it confuses me as to what purpose it serves.

@OskooI_007 That whole section of the video is 100% correct, and how you use game design to encourage and reward intended behaviors and squad-play.

Now, sure they don't necessarily need the UI elements to be so big or in your face as they are in BF1. But those elements mattered, and were a way the designers provided players with frequent in-game feedback in terms of when they were engaged in beneficial/intended behaviors vs. those that did not benefit them, their squad, or their team.

This in-game feedback doesn't exist in 2042 in any way, shape, or form, and IMO it's one of the major reason the game feels so weirdly "solo, and why there's so little actual squad/teamplay.

Never heard of the guy (don't YT much), but I'm enjoying it so far and will have to give the whole thing a watch.

Good catch! I just assumed DICE was adding up EXP like they did in all previous Battlefield games. It seems obvious BF2042 was built around Hazard Zone. Conquest and Breakthrough must have got shoe horned in at the last minute because the scoring system is completely missing from Conquest and Breakthrough. It's all quite horrifying!

@OskooI_007 But it was Elden Ring that had the bad UX, don't you understand the genius that is DICE's UX/UI guy?!?!
