Re: Will Hardcore mode be in Battlefield 2042?

You will be able to set up your own Server in Portal and it should have advanced settings so you can make your own Hardcore Mode Server. 🙂

@WindowsManTv_CZE I am hoping that such a base feature of Battlefield is not relegated solely to Portal. I think that Core/HC should be in the base game from launch but unfortunately we've heard nothing about this subject.

Same here, but we know how it was with Game Modes in BFV.. There will not be a lot with official Servers after BF2042 releases so i guess we as Community need to set up Hardcore Servers as Players do in BFV.

@WindowsManTv_CZE I understand where you're coming from but I'm not sure we can use BF5 as a standard for what to expect. It seems that BF5 was a rushed game with a skeleton crew manning and updating it while 2042 should look more like BF3,4,1 in terms of man power and support IMO. I really hope they don't push HC to portal but without classes to prevent friendly fire I think you might be correct.

  • @ragnarok013Really hoping you're right about the development cycle on 5, that would at least help make sense of a few of the design decisions on that title.

Edit: since you mention it, it would make sense if the tuning and follow-up content was passed on to another team after launch, as i thought the asset quality and overall polish was pretty good on launch, but good lord the grind system and some of the changes made later were demoralizing at best and pretty bland vs what we were used to in follow-up content from 3/4.

Hard core mode with both sides using same character models is a recipe for disaster. Better leave that to Portal and having both teams looking very different.

  • It works in COD, same issue, I'm not a fan of same character models but it works.

But best part is, if someone doesn't want to play HC for any reason they don't have to, and that should be the same for the HC crowd,
we should have the option and portal is just a lazy option, they've had HC in every version since 1, it shouldn't be some big issue for them to keep doing it
especially since they started it essentially.

Just offer an official option and be done with it.

  • Hosting HC mode exclusively on Portal has already failed (if this was the plan).

Portal HC servers have been progression nerfed, so players will get less XP and unlocks playing on HC Portal than on All-Out-Warfare.
