Reclaimed make me tired of philosophy behind DLC maps for 2042.

I am so tired of those "random structures in mostly rocky area" type of maps that we are getting after S3. First Spearhead, then Flashpoint, now Reclaimed.

Compact size would not be that bad. But the map keeps being too open. Spawning on most the obj results in being in open field, or getting in it after few steps. While devs tried their best to make some cover with terrainj itself and assets like wrecks, containers, it is still too open. Especially with 2 central buildings that dominates the landscape.

Meantime out of bounds we got plenty of trees that should be placed in playable area for more cover, just like Zavod. And in distance behind RUS base there is a robust facility. So i have no clue why we did not get more buildings and industrial structures. Or at least bigger train depot as a part of map.

  • Way too many vehicles in new map imo. Would be great with only recon, hovercraft, and other light transports.

Really? Cause I am wondering where the heck the jets are.
Including helicopters but excluding jets seems like a bad idea to me

Played another few rounds, still the same conclusion: every season the maps get worse, to the point of this map, it's the most crap map I've ever.played on bf

I think the map is fine (in Conquest), the biggest issue are the awful spawns, which seems to be even worse than on other maps.

Bad spawning is a really frustrating issue in 2042 in general.

I’ve seen more spawn camps on Reclaimed Conquest  than I’ve ever seen 2042.That’s one team owning all objectives and camping the other team inside their home base spawn. That’s pretty BROKEN.

Map design needs a rework. The map needs to be wider with more room to escape the spawns and for the love of Battlefield get rid of the damned helicopters on this tiny * map. We don’t need Condor or Hind to solve this issue. We simply need a wider map with room to flank and with more cover in the home spawns.

In addition, as far as respawn locations at objectives, as other have stated PLEASE STOP SPAWNING US IN THE OPEN IN FRONT OF HALF THE ENEMY TEAM. It’s the epitome of not even trying game development effort to not create safer zones for respawning FOR ALL MAPS AND ALL GAME MODES.

Is it really that difficult to paste a few hescos or a zig zag shaped trench line so that when we spawn we aren’t spawning out on a perfectly flat golf course, exposed to half the enemy team to include tanks and helicopters??

I can’t count the number of times I’m spawned at the uncontested objective flag on flat, open terrain, and have enemy tanks and/or enemy infantry slaughtering me the second I spawn in. Or when contested I’m spawning on a road on flat, totally open terrain only to be Insta killed from 360 degree enemies. This is one needless frustration that can be nipped in the bud with just a tiny bit of effort.

@Zhukov211 The sad thing is that BF1 and BFV had improvements to spawning and all this is just gone now.

While not all like the BFV way of spawning, it was still way better than what we got in 2042.

We are now back to BF4-levels of bad spawning, it seems like no thought has gone into spawn-points (spawning in the open/weird places) and the game doesn't seem to care about spawning players in front of enemies (infantry/vehicles).

@cso7777 BF4 has good spawing. But BF2042 has the same spawn issues BF4 had at launch (before the fix) plus 120m away from the objective.

@cso7777 You’re so right, it’s like this batch of devs never played or looked back on past games to see what worked. Good map design, spawns etc should not be legacy features that get dropped. Can anyone explain the purpose of reinventing the wheel?

Totally agree with you, the spawning in BF2042 has been the worst I have experienced on any BF to date.

I notice it seems particularly bad on the new Reclaimed map, I have had so many spawn / dead scenarios that just left me totally frustrated / angry.

  • The philosophy I see is that DICE is making each new map smaller and smaller and smaller.

Battlefield needs big maps. Yes, with alot of open spaces to let vehicles do their magic. Transports were valued in BF1942 and BF2.

It all went downhill since BF3.
