Reenable XP on Portal
I feel that XP should be reenabled on Portal, due to the fact it is an advertised part of the game and progression is a major part of Battlefield 2042, and game modes should have some form of reward ...
No, cause Stat Padding
Progression is for the "Primary" game mode. Not for make your own rules modes.
There is no "primary" game mode.
BF2042 has three equal valued game modes, AOW, Portal and HZ.
But this XP-farm exploiting had to be stopped, so they did right to disable XP in portal.
Thanks to those players exploiting in video games.
I guess they are working on a way to balance it in a new way so they can enable it again, without having the XP-farm issues.
Maybe they could implement something like "diminished return", so if you e.g. kill a set amount of enemies in a short time, they give lesser and lesser XP.
Portal ... Can change game rules, weapons, factions etc and so forth.
AOW (Conquest, Break Through)... No modifications allowed.
Hazard Zone... No modifications allowed.
Thus Primary GM's are AOW and HZ.
Who said that modifications are the measurement if something is a "primary game mode"?
Thats so stupid. Its a primary game mode, that exist for modification.
There is no reason to sort those modes by any meaning.
Easy... No XP against Bots... problem solved
That wasnt the only issue. A big issue was that people named a custom server like " Farm XP against bots 128 players HC valparaiso" as example but there werent any bots, they just had 1 x 4 team on one side having weapon loadouts and the rest who joined entered on the opposing team with 1 hp and no loadouts and since people thought it was another type of game mode people just kept joining while the team with loadout was just hammering down people and gaining exp and progression.
But they LEGIT made a selling point saying you gain progression no matter what you play (solo/coop, portal, etc.) A major reason why MANY people bought the game.
Totally agree with doing something about the XP Farm nonsense
Its temporarily disabled so they can do something against exploiting.
So thats no breaking their promise that you progress in all modes.
Like I said, thank those players that have to cheat their way to progress instead of playing the game and having fun the way its meant to be.
Its the same people that post "first" under YT videos. No one cares, but they think they achive something.

They need to find ways to mitigate the "stat padding", not penalize all other Portal players for this problem. As others said, it was a big selling point for BF2042 that no matter what mode of the game you play, progression carries over. Portal is just as much a part of BF2042 as Hazard Zone, AOW, etc.
DICE already has access to all the information they need to seek out and identify those who are progressing at extraordinary rates. Now they just need controls in place to help eliminate those who are exploiting the mode for this purpose. .....e.g. throttling of progression in suspicious cases, partial or full resets of progress for obvious infractions and bans for the more flagrant among them.
The problem is Identifying an event that's considered padding....Without False Positives. You might think that's easy to do but it isn't.
Personally I don't think progression or xp in any regard should be gained/awarded for custom games.

.....and I don't think it's as hard as you think it is.
DICE has all the information they need and whether it's XP caps based on time / amount, instances of rapid progression, etc., etc., there are ways that they can at least flag unusual scenarios for either an automated action and/or review. Perhaps that auto action is shutting off progression at a certain point (capping) and allowing a cool off period. ......or maybe resetting progression gained in a suspicious scenario back to where it was before the player started. For those really obvious offenses, perhaps full resets of progression or a ban.
It wouldn't be difficult to at least set up progression thresholds for a given period of time played that could trigger these caps, warnings, resets, etc.
The damage has already been done by this point. When I get into a game with a level 18 with 3 tier 1 badges it’s it is easy to immediately assume they boosted somehow. Xp farm or just flat out cheating. I lean toward xp farmer. Why would I want to play against or with them.
The least they can do is open up the solo/co op AoW xp. When the portal thing happened they freaked out and adjusted xp gain all over the board except in MP.

Agreed total panic stations, I would have thought that warnings with reset and perma bans would have been the solution not screwing over HC & Solo/Co-op players, as the warnings/reset/ban seems to work in other Online FPS's.
There no reason to "throttle" anyone. They bought the game thinking they could play it how they want. If they want to boost, who cares? No one is making you do it. Dont tell other people how to play their game.
