It is so sad to see how this game is failing. Farming Simulator has more people playing than BF 2042. Having to deal with these super hero specialists makes the game just laughable. The game already has over 40,000 negative reviews on steam and 1/5 stars on Xbox Live. DICE and EA please do something before the game completely collapses. It needs to be fixed before everyone says "screw it" and move to another game. This is so sad! :-(

@Theskywalker989With change is the development team at DICE, I don't think we'll ever see BF games like BC2 and BF1 again. The studio is going in a new direction of chasing trends and copying the competition instead using their own creative minds like they have been for the past 20 years. 2042 might be one of the worst games I have every played in my life and I have been gaming since Playstation 1.If I blind tested 2042, not knowing it was a Battlefield game I would've thought it was a BF knockoff from another company instead of a game from DICE.With such overwhelming negativity towards the direction of the game, I fully expected them to come out, apologize, admit that they made a tremendous mistake, fix it and give fans want they want. Remove specialists, tone down the player movement, take out 3rd person takedowns. Completely revert the game back to the core of BF.When Ubisoft released Ghost Recon Breakpoint and received huge negative backlash for bringing the gear level system into the game from The Division, they publicly apologized to the community, admitted they made a mistake and re-worked the game for the fans. That is an admirable move for a AAA studio. Ubisoft listened to what the fans wanted Breakpoint to be and to be honest Breakpoint has turned into a pretty good game. Ubisoft is one of the few AAA studios that actually cares about their fans and community. DICE could learn something about giving fans what they want and not things they didn't ask for.DICE is following hyper analytics of what has worked for other games like Apex and Warzone. They tried implement those mechanics into BF and it just doesn't work. BF has it's own fanbase, while Warzone, Apex have their own. 2042 would've been much better received and successful if it just adhered to what the fans of the franchise want and stuck to it's core. The change DICE did the Battlefield would be the equivalent to Activision making the next CoD multiplayer like a previous Battlefield game. With classes, first person takedowns, slower player movement etc. and I would safely assume the CoD fanbase would not welcome those changes. DICE hasn't even acknowledged the overwhelming disappointment from the fans and yet posts on their Twitter account like 2042 is some wild, booming success. I will for sure not ever buy another DICE game on release ever again. I know former DICE members who worked on previous BF games started their own studio and are working on a multiplayer game. We'll have to keep an eye on it and see how it turns out.

Agreed, unfortunately they aren't going to do anything. Another thing that make this game unplayable is the 128 players on breakthrough and even sometimes on conquest. All you end up with is a stalemate between both teams and no way of capturing objectives. It just gets annoying to die....respawn....die... respawn...die after you were beamed by the 50 players on the hill. The game ran a lot smoother and better with 64 players. The maps to are also very bland in my opinion. Having to run for 5 minutes just to be able to get to an objective gets old. This game needs to be completely scrapped and started over. It will be dead within a couple of months at this rate if even that long.

@Theskywalker989 Take 10 steps and get sniped. Then get sniped at the spawn point. I stopped playing. Going back to ghost recon breakpoint to play the hero specialist in a squad of 4 people.

@RacialAdhesive- Yeah. I remember playing battlefield 2 and I played and played till I was the rank of colonel. Now it's this level up crap. Where's the real army rank?

Steam is less than 20% of the player base.

Remove specialists, game is collapsing, players are leaving!

Being a ps5 player in Australia that works most nights I struggle to get games during the day. The only viable games are cross play conquest and sometimes breakthrough. I really don’t enjoy the crossplay though. On the nights I’ve had off when I can get non crossplay games they play so much better. Problem is you turn crossplay off there’s no games in any mode during the day That I can find. There’s never much happening in portal usually only a handful of mostly empty servers with or without crossplay. The ps5 rollout has been pretty bad over here like most places but I’ve never seen a game this close to release so underpopulated and have never had problems getting games in the other battlefields until they were very long in the tooth.

What I think is crazy, out of all the things that is wrong with the game, one of the better changes (specialists), people whine about... Even if you dislike them, they're not bad vs some of the other problems.

@Donaramu - specialists look the same on both sided, which kills immersion
- specialists voicelines at the end of game are the most cringy thing in this game
- the best specialists don´t have any teamplay to them... which is horrible for squad play (legacy feature i guess). im talking about sundance and mc kay... both have gadgets that reward lone wolf gameplay and are way too overpowered... constantly getting killed by sundance, which flies in 500m across the map, nosedives into the ground without dying and kills 7-8 with a silencer is the breakthrough meta right now.
- specialists are nearlly impossible to balance, especially when you start releasing even more of them
- they don´t lead to more diversity in gunplay, you are getting killed by an ak or m5 95% of the time

you could restrict a lot of stuff they can do to balance them, then you would simply end up with a classlike system, but with annoying skins that kill the immersion of the series...
