Just seen the fuss going around about reuse of character models. Tying hard to think why it might be considered an issue...

@lzilchetl Because once people have it in for a company/game they will find anything they can to find fault with said game.

@lzilchetl who cares if they used the same model? it's probably someone's wife/daughter that they wanted to keep in the games it is different enough to not matter (i wouldn't have even noticed it because i didn't play battlefront 2 or bfV)

It's only the same model in that the base mesh is the same. In BFV, for instance, all characters were the same height and physical proportions. This gave the female Japanese and American soldiers pretty powerful shoulders when you applied the skins using tattoos.
The head meshes in the images above have different jawlines, different cheekbones, different structure in the soft tissues like the lips and around the eyes.
In short this is a completely fabricated problem that only becomes a problem now that people are actively looking for a problem to complain about.

@filthy_vegans i think having all character models the same size is a good thing. there is a reason a lot of people hated Oddjob in Goldeneye

Honestly dont even see much similarity. Not sure why anyone would care about this anyway, there are much bigger problems.

Saw this earlier on Reddit and had similar thoughts and didn't see it as an issue. It kind of made sense to me that assets get reused.

@lzilchetl As a general practice it's not an issue. Re-using perfectly good assets can save a bunch of time and money, and sometimes there's just no need to re-do existing work like with the dust-up over the "re-used" grapple animation in Horizon, which looks bloody fantastic.

The reason I think folks are highlighting this now is because...well...this is supposed to be a trick to save time/money to improve the game elsewhere and it sure doesn't seem like this happened with 2042. It's doubly weird when they're trying to take the face of what was a generic Imperial Officer/soldier and make it into a named character but whatever.

It's more that DICE appears to have used almost every time-saving trick in the book and cut just about every corner imaginable, and still delivered a rushed, incomplete, fairly busted game filled with a shocking amount of very, very low quality design.

@lzilchetl This was yhe most silly reddit post i have seen and you repost it ? Their eyes are differeny chin are different mouth is different , nose is different while they all 3 get proportional nose

The only thing similar are the jaw lines wich is square ..

I could blend any human face in the same manners and find semi matching face by the millions

@Psubond Yet Ears , lips , chin , eyes , cheek are all different so no it aint the same model ..

The only similarities is " universal proportion work " height of eyes vs mouth .. And square jaw lines and thats all everything else is different
