@lzilchetl As a general practice it's not an issue. Re-using perfectly good assets can save a bunch of time and money, and sometimes there's just no need to re-do existing work like with the dust-up over the "re-used" grapple animation in Horizon, which looks bloody fantastic.
The reason I think folks are highlighting this now is because...well...this is supposed to be a trick to save time/money to improve the game elsewhere and it sure doesn't seem like this happened with 2042. It's doubly weird when they're trying to take the face of what was a generic Imperial Officer/soldier and make it into a named character but whatever.
It's more that DICE appears to have used almost every time-saving trick in the book and cut just about every corner imaginable, and still delivered a rushed, incomplete, fairly busted game filled with a shocking amount of very, very low quality design.
