RPK-74M needs tweaking
Overall RPK-74M is a great looking weapon and i am really glad it's in BF2042. After using it for some time, it would seems that this weapon needs a bit more tweaking.
My rough estimate of reload speed, using my stopwatch, so it's not 100% accurate:
RPK-74M with 60 or 45 rounds magazine:
- Retention reload speed is ~3 seconds vs ~3,8 seconds empty mag reload speed.
AK-24 with Extended mag:
- Retention reload speed is ~3,2 seconds vs ~3,4 seconds empty mag reload speed.
AK-24 with Extended mag HP:
- Retention reload speed is ~3,5 seconds vs ~3,7 seconds empty mag reload speed.
First of all, retention reload speed on all weapons should be slower vs empty throw away mag reload speed.
However, RPK-74M mag retention reload is faster than on AK-24. Which should not be correct as, RPK-74M is ~1kg heavier and longer length weapon vs AK-24 (AK-12). Both use same 5.45mm bullet, still RPK is more bulky.
The laser attachment on RPK-74M is not aligned with barrel.
RPK-74M should have faster bullet and damage range vs AK-24. Since it's the same 5.45 bullet as in AK-24, it should be more efficient on long range than AK-24. Gameplay wise, it feels like it's harder to hit and kill enemy on ~50m with RPK-74M than with AK-24. Increasing bullet speed and increasing range before damage goes to lowest value would be perhaps better for balance of '74M.
RPK from BC2 should perhaps have better damage but a bit less bullet speed than '74M.
It would be better if overall position in first person of both RPK is placed somewhat higher than their current position on XYZ axis. RPKs are longer weapons yet visually they look smaller than AK-24 in same hip position. Very observant when player is prone, RPKs look smaller instead of bigger.
I've read on Reddit, that flash suppressor has a broken damage drop vs standard muzzle, but I can't confirm that, so not sure if it's correct or not.
Both RPKs could use sound buff when firing. Audio difference between having a suppressor on and off is very negligible.
Thanks a bunch for adding RPKs into '2042, they are great addition !
