Dedicated servers to rent by the communities are a proper way to play Battlefield. Lobby and matchmaking are only good for HZ and BR with skill-based matchmaking - optionally! One of the many reasons I stopped playing BF2042. Everything in the new title is redone in a predictable and far worse pattern. There is no control over ticket-gameplay-length, mixed maps and game modes in rotation. No CITY MAPS style of maps either, no Infantry Conquest. The whole concept of a game derives from the notion that it has to resemble other titles in one way or another. Having a community running a server is part of the whole fun package. Now everything is completely gone and plays 10x worse. No Squad Management. No scoreboard with information about the players and their performance. No VoIP or global communication, even more, downgrades all the way around.
Someone who designed 2042 is not a gamer. Some board members decide on the future of Battlefield, stripping the previous concepts without even thinking about them. Fixing lobby and match-making is a waste of time and resources. Permanent servers run by the communities are what made Battlefield significant. From now it`s only straight downhill.

Pretty much says it all, we need proper BF servers. Lets hope we get some changes in the future updates which can return some of the core elements which were the backbone of the BF franchise.
