Yes, Orbital was maybe the best of the new maps, so they had to remove it to ensure players don't actually have fun.
They try everything short of stopping their servers to make sure players will not play the game anymore. Removing good maps from the rotation and not bringing persistent servers and map rotations or a server browsers are the most obvious steps.

@DuaneDibbley They removed my favorite 128 breakthrough and now removed my favorite map. Yea they are for sure trying to kill this game. I wonder how they come up with this? Do they sit in a meeting and say hey this map is one of our best so let’s remove it and add something so players don’t play. This game isn’t even in beta to me it’s now in production mode lol

At this point I would not even be surprised if the said that we 'like big maps' (or some random other BS they might invent) and for that reason will remove all maps from the game and only bring us persistent servers with playlist consisting only of 'El Alamein' and 'Hourglass'.
They will call that 'Ultimate dessert experience week'.
And after a week come back and tell us that we obviously did not like this and therefore will not provide persistent servers with map rotations in the future.
They are so disconnected and quite obviously NOBODY that has any influence there at Dice does actually play the game. When they say 'See you on the battlefield!' they mean THEY see US on the Battlefield. But from a monitoring tool, identifying instances where players might actually still have fun in the hope to find a way to remove those with as little effort as possible.When reading what I just wrote I must say that might sound like sarcasm. And I wish it was. But in all honesty, this might not even be too far from the truth.
- @DuaneDibbley it has to be purposeful at this point. They are trying to suppress the player count to reduce the amount of servers needed to support the game.
- @Sc0tch_Whiskey "Production model" is still to nice, All the base maps, except orbital, are bad, they have resorted to added portal maps into the AOW mode, there is a serious lack of weapons for a BF game that we have all got use to, its a basic Cross platform (Each Format limited to there use, M&K for pc and Consoles limited to Controller), lack of attachment for guns, lack of vehicle variety, still no server browser or ability to create own lobby.
They have took soo many steps back that this is making BF4's first month look playable in comparison to this after 7 month, and I still get flashbacks to how bad BF4 was when released. You could get the best maps ever made and your not making this mess any better!

- @GrizzGolf it be funny, as the cheat maker AIMEXCHEATS announced they were pulling out of BF2042 very soon after the game launched, you know you f'd up when even the cheaters don't want to play haha
- @GrizzGolf Yep they was even shooting our proximity balls before they even reached the ground.
The game is bad enough without all that so I just uninstalled it
