Seeing Others In Smoke

It seems other players on the other team can see me through the smoke even though I can't see them.

Is this a known issue?

I'll be playing and using the smoke for screens and I'll get hit through the smoke.

  • A few possible explanations:

    -Rao actively hacking

    -Rao 'passively' hacking

    -Paik scan

-Mag dumping at a chokepoint + feeling for hitmarkers + luck

    -Shooting at tracers/muzzleflash

-It's possible that at the fringes of smoke the opacity isn't exactly the same from all perspectives.

  • @Redrum331 There’s a lot of ways. Personally I know people will run around in the smoke and I immediately fire wherever it’s heaviest. Almost every time I’ll get hit markers or kills. If I get a marker I’ll pour it on, and if I get multiple markers then I know they’re crouched and slow moving. Paik spotting illuminates in smoke. Shooting puts you on the minimap and it’s easy to shoot in those general directions. Smoke is concealment, not cover. We’re basically spotted 99% of the time mate.

Oh yah good call on the opacity of the smoke. Throw in some network compensation and they can see but you can’t see them. That’s a fight you’ll never win.

  • @Redrum331Thermal vision clearly shows certain lens optics through smoke. It just requires the enemy to open their lens and look at you. But hitting at that moment is quite difficult, it's a matter of seconds. Within 3 seconds, either you hit them or they hit you. It's something I experience very often.

    Something that shouldn't normally happen.

Come now, we are all thinking the same thing (but not saying it) because we've all experienced it ;-)

  • @CPU_UK Lol yes....I thought it was client side related, it's just frustrating trying to use it as a screen just to get mowed down---it's not Paik or Rao either usually Assault or Support class

@Redrum331 So I shoot at moving red glowsticks in smoke. Their glow is only faint, you maybe need to be static to actually notice this, but I use it a lot, when I cover a choke point.
Also, I am not sure, if friendly and opponent smoke work the same, especially in regards of thermal optics.
Also I do shoot at every scope glare I spot in smoke. So if you try to shoot with a high magnification, stick with a hybrid scope, or stay below 4x magnification.
