Shotguns nerfed into oblivion. Why so big a nerf?

The things are borderline trash now, flechette sucks at any sort of range beyond point blank, Slugs somehow perform worse (reduced velocity or accuracy?) and the hipefire reticle takes up half the screen now. The less said about buckshot the better.

Why?

They were fine before! Not even that commonly used to justify a nerf this big. As a guy who usually used slugs + flechette on my 870 or 12M (used the Saiga since BF3), this sucks.

Heard that the new shotgun they released suffers a lot because of the nerfs as well.

Hardly balanced now, you can lose in CQC to someone spraying and praying because of how awful shotguns are now. Can't rely upon hipfire or even ADS at range (with flechettes or slugs) anymore. Before it was a higher TTK but rewarded good positioning and aggression, now its useless.

  • they should be increasing the shotgun consistency by increasing the pellet numbers instead of decreasing them

I would really like to hear their reasoning

  • In the latest patch all shotguns were subject to performance changes. While these changes somewhat affected the 12G Auto, the M880 has been ruined. If you do not believe me, try it for yourself and also go to the firing range and see the results in a controlled environment.

In-game performance : It is inconsistent, slow to shoot, slow to reload and in every way inferior to any other weapon you could pick for close quarters action. You have literally no good reason to use it because all it offers is disadvantages. One hit kills only with perfect center mass below 5m, beyond 5m it is everything from 2-3 shots to kill. Take into consideration that you are also moving, your target it also moving and most likely returning fire.

Attachments : specifically the different shells you can use. The 01. buck is kinda the best option, but lacks damage, #4 buck is just worse damage at range with no better upclose damage, Flachettes used to 1hk and now they also perform miserably. And finally the #00 buckshot which ''has more range'' but still underperforms and never EVER kills in one shot. Slugs are the only redeemable way to use this weapon but even they travel super slow and unless you get lucky with that slow projectile and nail someone in the head it is 2 shots to kill.

What i suggest : because it is slow to fire and reaload, make it punch really really hard, especially with the slugs AND make it a good choice as a silenced shotgun. High risk, high reward.

TLDR :Iit is bad, needs buff. Other shotguns are objectively better in every way.
