I've been working on the T1 for the 12M and mostly using Redacted for it. It's strong up close, don't get me wrong, but Redacted is a CQC map primarily so it kind of comes with the territory in my mind.
@ElliotLHThat's fair, but on the other hand, Redacted is the only CQC map we have without vehicles. It's a pretty small map too. Shotguns are a little too potent compared to everything else when talking about the tight areas of the map.
An SMG should out range the 880 and only lose to a shotgun up close in theory. In practice, the 880 has just as much usable range as any SMG because of the map design.
The 12m is a complete bot gun in my opinion as well. Turn brain off, jump around a corner, spam fire, get kills. I've done it from time to time and it's fun, but a little much for the map in my opinion.
- ElliotLH2 years agoHero+@RaginSam I'd say that's a fair comment too. My main concern is around balancing weapons based on one map not being effective. Then again shotguns are difficult to balance in games - they're either too powerful or too weak - so I don't know what the solution is here.

I feel like stuff like shotguns should be treated as a novelty if you’re going to have them in a game. Meaning, it can be something fun to mess around with, but definitely not the most effective tool for the job. If money was on the line, it wouldn’t be something you’d pick. That’s just my view on it though.- ElliotLH2 years agoHero+@RaginSam Yep they sure are. I remember lots of back and forth discussions about the 10A Hunter in Shotgun Forest on the old BF1 boards, and I'm sure it goes for other games too.
I'd probably be quite happy still if they were treated more as a novelty as that's kind of how I use them myself already - I'd rather use an AR for flexibility anyway.

I thought of excluding the Ghost Maker from that list but it's a one shot kill weapon too.
- ElliotLH2 years agoHero+@DaveTheBrave_USA That would be an option too for sure. I'm not a fan of weapon restrictions and limits on vanilla maps personally, but I could live with it like I do with vehicles now.
