@kronenbourg73 I've been playing since BC2. Been playing BF2042 for 70 hours so far. If you're expecting it to be like BF4 but bigger and better, you're going to be bitterly disappointed.
Think of BF2042 as a clone of Warzone with added bits of vehicle destruction, that's it.
So here's my advice or take, even;
If you love flying jets, don't bother because they don't feel at all good anymore. If you love flying in helicopters, don't bother because there are too many people rocking AA missiles. The controls for both have been "dumbed" down so there's not much skill involved flying anymore.
Specialists are a bit pointless in my own opinion, only 2 (maybe 3) of them really are squad and team orientated, all the rest are literally individualistic "hero" types. If you hate cheesy lines, you can't skip them and you cannot turn off the language audio so you're stuck with their stupid cringe lines throughout the whole game.
Lack of weapons is a huge disappointment. Even the lack of vehicles. US & Russia have a vast arsenal of vehicles so they don't need to share the same 6 vehicles. In BF4, you'd have completely different vehicles for each faction. In fact, in most previous BF titles this is the case.
The maps huge but there's a lot of dead space. Not much cover at all for infantry at all. So if you're like infantry combat, you're gonna die every other. There's not even much cover for jets/Heli's to hide behind. Bit too flat with not much destruction and no big levolution moments.
No server browser in the base game so no TDM, rush, conquest small, FFA, domination. You have to go to portal for that but you're reliant on good ping depending on where you are. In the UK on PS5, the servers are pretty dead. You'll get 1 server which will be 3 quarters full and the majority of the rest of the servers will be max 10 players.
So called "legacy features", which are standard features, are not there in game. Traditional scoreboard, creating squads, changing teams, making squads private, no VOIP (for this who play with randoms). There are a whole host of others. None of which are there.
This game has been rushed. The old team of Dice from BF4 days are pretty much gone, including those who worked on Frostbite so the destruction isn't even there, hardly any anyways.
If they class locked the specialists and weapons, added a whole host of weapons and a variety of vehicles (US & Russia) to choose from, then maybe it would be a better game. But with the old devs leaving because of creative freedoms, the new ones coming in, and EA really pulling the strings, this franchise will die.
Overall, not recommended. I pre-ordered this game so I want to get my money's worth out of it after being sold lies by EA with their marketing campaigns. Never again.
Anywhoooo, byeee.
