Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory once more
DICE just be like that.
- Ship an awful, incomplete game that nobody plays.
- Spend a few years slowly improving it to get it close to ready for actual launch
- Ship S6 in a pretty decent state, run a deep sale/free weekend and see an apparently HUGE influx of new players
- Good times are about to begin, surely!
- Ships a mid-season event patch that they've vaguely been hyping up to the core community for a while
- Event is reportedly poorly designed and buggy as hell and pretty awful, though at least has some good cosmetics
- Patch introduces a mouse bug that makes the game literally unplayable on PC
- DICE, being in Swedenland, ships patches when their work day is over and they're at home resting (no criticism, everyone deserves to relax at the end of the day), resulting in silence for an entire day while PC players are basically unable to even play
- Game already losing 10K+ CCU compared to the days before the patch on Steam
Every time they manage to build any momentum, DICE always manages introduce a brutal bug or some shockingly poor design to cut themselves off at the knees and faceplant into the gravel.
I'm kinda curious to give the event a try, because if it's as bad as I keep reading it sounds like then I'm thinking maybe DICE shouldn't try to do things "different" that "don't seem like Battlefield" because the past few times they've tried that (this event, 2042 specialists) it's seems like it's gone incredibly poorly.
Two steps forward, two more steps backwards. It seems to be the way of modern DICE.
