This isn't a military simulator though and they had to balance the machine guns because they have like 200 round belts/magazines. How would it be balanced if they gave Machine Guns the same accuracy and recoil as Assault Rifles while also having 200 Magazines? Think about it, no one would ever want to use the assault rifles then. Everyone would just be running around with machine guns.
